Factors Influencing Pharmacist Decisions: Dissertation Methodology

This dissertation proposal outlines the research methodology for a study investigating the factors influencing the judgment and decisions of advanced pharmacist practitioners regarding hypertension treatment in elderly frail patients over 80 years old. The methodology includes both primary and secondary data collection methods, utilizing case studies and questionnaires to gather descriptive data. A sample size of 18 participants will be used, employing an idiographic approach. Data analysis will be performed using SPSS, incorporating judgmental analysis and regression analysis to identify relationships between independent and dependent variables. The study aims to determine the factors that influence pharmacist decision-making, evaluating the impact of these factors and assessing correlations between them, providing insights into the decision-making processes of pharmacists in this specific clinical context.

Research methodology
In order to conduct a study it is necessary to gather relevant and precise data so that
useful info is obtained. For that it is necessary to select a specific research methodology so that
study is conducted in effective way. Besides that, it gives insight to researcher that what
methods are to be applied in collecting data. also, by interpreting data relevant outcomes are
achieved. so, it becomes easy to conduct study. Similarly, for present dissertation the
methodology is as follows :
Data collection- An important element of research methodology because it is not possible for any
researcher to complete study and making it successful without having appropriate and accurate
data (Wang, and et.al., 2019). There are mainly 2 ways of collecting data such as primary and
secondary. In primary data collection, researcher gather fresh data that have not been used before
and is known as primary data. there are various ways through which data is collected such as
survey, interview, questionnaire, etc. it entirely depends on researcher that what method will be
used. On the other hand, in secondary type of data collection, researcher gathers second and data
that have been published already and may be used before by other scholar for their study. In this
journals, articles, books, etc. are selected and then data is gathered. Therefore, these both
methods will allow be useful in obtaining relevant data regarding factors and its affect on
decision making. Moreover, analysis can be made on basis of secondary data by comparing it
with primary one.
What data will be collected
However, for current study both secondary and primary data will be gathered. Here,
secondary data is collected through case studies. Furthermore, primary data is gathered via
questionnaire. In this descriptive data will be gathered. This is because it will help in analyzing
factors which influence on decision of pharmacist.
Sampling – it is defined as the procedures used in statistical analysis in which a predetermined
number of observations are taken from a larger population. There are certain criteria on basis of

which sample is selected. This depends on nature of study and scholar willingness. Usually,
there are 2 methods in it that is probability and non probability (Snyder, 2019).
In probability there is equal chance of selection of sample. There are many methods as
well in it that is cluster, stratified, random, etc and in non probability there is unequal chance of
sample selection. The techniques are quota, snowball, etc. in this study researcher will use
Thus, in present study researcher will use idiographic approach. In this 45-case scenarios
were used after excluding cases unrepresentative of real life cases, the number of participants
used in the study was 5. So, sample size will be 18.
Data analysis – it is necessary to interpret and analyse data in effective way so that useful
obtained is generated. So, with the help of appropriate data analysis tools, researcher can make
all collected data according to their needs and accurate. Also, scholar must have in depth
knowledge about data analysis tool so that data is analysed in effective way.
Is analysis used correct for study
It is stated that analysis used for study is correct as it will be useful in finding out that
how judgment of pharmacist changes with situation. Also, how it affect on their decision
making.
Types of data analysis technique
Basically, there are two types of data analysis methods that is used that are quantitative
and qualitative. In quantitative SPSS tool is used for interpreting numeric data. however, in
qualitative thematic analysis is done. In this there are various themes formed on basis of which
data is evaluated.
Use of data analysis technique
Therefore, for current study scholar will use SPSS tool to analyse data. also, judgmental
analysis in which decision making under uncertainty with some errors and cues is done. Besides
that, regression analysis will be done to find out relationship between independent and
dependent variables (Dodds, and Hess, 2020). The results will be interpreted through SPSS and
applying various tests in it.
Thus, the outcomes obtained from data analysis will show that what are factors influence
on judgment and decision making of pharmacist practitioners. Also, it will evaluate whether
there is relationship between decisions taken and factors or not. Besides that, correlation between

factors will be evaluated as well. the data obtained will determine factors by which it becomes
easy to apply various test on it. therefore, it can be easily determined that what factor influence
decision making and is there relationship between those factors or not.
