This is to bring to your kind attention the outcome of a project for the evaluation of your
esteemed pharmacy. Moreover, I would also like to propose a plan that I have developed to
improve the production rate of the factory. This will also change the pharmacy situation of
the company and help the management in taking corrective actions.
During my past few years of service, I have been completing my everyday duties and
summing up assignments on time. Apart from this, I have also noticed some unusual changes
in the behaviour of the employees. This pharmacy has been facing a lot of difficulties and
obstacles in due course of time. I have been noticing and monitoring the work environment
inside the pharmacy for quite a long time now and have come to the following few situations
that are heavily affecting the workflow:
With growing in work, grave consequences are creeping in as follows:
1. Good and hard working employees are continuously ignored and never
listened to by the other employees.
2. Incentives, promotions and facilities are not provided on the basis of hard
work or merit, rather given on the basis of acquaintances and personal
relations.
3. There is no proper training conducted and there is the absence of a proper
consultant from whom skills can be acquired, resulting in improper decision
making.
It has also been noticed that about 80% of the lead technicians lack proper skills and
knowledge to operate machinery as a result of which they are unable to submit
assignments on time. Moreover, the peer pressure on the skilled and able technicians
to complete their own work as well as other’s work is quite huge. This reduces the
overall efficiency of the work done.
The managers lack basic managerial skills so as to lead and control a team of
subordinates, and produce efficient work and service from them. This is a result of
managers being given a position as a gift and not on the basis of merit or experience.
Many of such managers have been in the company for quite a long period of time and
have become too accustomed and lethargic to work. They do not even have any
knowledge in terms of people or work management.
To maintain profit and gain good customer service ratings, the following steps are to be taken
Re-evaluate lead technicians and department managers by giving them a month’s time
to prepare and then test them on the basis of skill, efficiency, attendance and the

ability to control and handle situations. Failing in these test would lead to replacement
of people with experienced people.
The G.M’s team will handle management in four ways such as Directing, coaching,
supporting and delegating.
As a 24 x 7 pharmacies, there should be no priority for any run and all be treated as
same. Technicians and managers should complete work in their own shifts so as to
avoid accumulation of work for the people in the next shift. This would reduce the
waiting time and delay time in the work.
A simple fact which is to be kept in mind is that the work should be processed within
time and not depending on the shift.
Rescheduling of tasks is very important in a 24x7 running pharmacy as per the
business needs.
Technicians should be continuously monitored and substitutions or extra people to be
provided to avoid any difficult or rushed situation.
Department managers have to check daily reports by monitoring employees which
will result in better efficiency and high standards of production.
