Tourism in Philippines has always been focused on foreign tourists. It lacked domestic
promotion and marketing.
There is a lack of funding from the government.
The government has not integrated tourism into all its level.
There is a lack of input from proper social and institutional organization (Ylagan and
Laguador 2014).
The industry is fragmented and complete collaboration among the different service providers
are not happening
Tourism in Philippines is a fragmented industry, where differet organizations provide
different services to make the experience. There are people who provide accommodation,
some who provide transport, some who guide the tour and so on.

For slide 2 I will say:
Many areas are underdeveloped and thus does not receive proper funding for the
development of tourism facilities.
Lack of skilled and trained professionals (Buted, Ylagan and Mendoza 2014).
Due to this many accidents happen and tourists are unsure of their safety.
Lack of environmental management is slowly depleting the marine lives and thus
affecting the scenic beauty and attractions for which tourists came.

The government mainly focuses on increasing the number of tourists arriving rather than
revenue collection.
Recently the government is working on environmental management, flood control and
many other aspects that will make Philippines more attractive to the tourists.

For slide 3 I will say:
The service providers like travel agencies, resorts and hotels are facing a significant phase
of lean season.
The trade associations are trying to negotiate with the government. Meanwhile, the
tourism industry suffers.
Caloy Libosada, a tourism and ecotourism consultant in Philippines opines that
Philippines tourism contributes 8.6 percent in GDP which should grow more in future
(Libosada 2018).
The trade unions are responsible for proving leadership and ensure that development in
the sector is constant. They negotiate with the government and other authorities to
improve the condition of the sites. It takes time and in the meantime, local agents, guides
and the tourists suffer thus reducing the arrival for subsequent years.

For slide 4 I will say:
The local government and other authorities are struggling to maintain the activities to
keep the industry afloat.
Increased accidents have caused tourists to refrain form adventure sports that id affecting
the revenue.

The depletion of costal life and other environmental elements are being noticed by the
NGO’s and they are pressurizing the government to take measures (Aguda, Tamayo and
Barlan 2013).
It is the responsibility of the government as well as the NGO’s to ensure that the
development of tourism is sustainable. The NGO’s work as a check for the government
and other service providers to keep the environment from being destroyed.
