Students should use phones in colleges. Communication took a different form from traditional to
digital. A phone is a personal computer and helps in communicating through calls, text messages
and online chatting. Personal computers can be used for education purpose since they are
essential tools for research as a student can goggle assignment questions to get broader
knowledge. Nowadays there are online books and libraries that a student can visit and learn class
and practical work. Online platforms provide real-time lessons through YouTube and other
related programs that can be helpful (Clark, 2008).
More importantly, lecturers send notes and exams through the emails and expect students to
download, do them and send back for marking. Phones are very crucial for students in colleges
(Morest, 2013). Another critical function of phones is the withdrawal funds that a parent, friend
or family member may send to the student. Electronic fund transfer is possible using phones, and
even most banks have employed mobile banking (Caverly, Ward, & Caverly, 2009). So long as
the phones are used responsibly, there is no problem. Some students use their phones in
recording immoral videos, downloading useless videos like pornographic ones among other
things that are not important.
College students are adults and should be allowed to have phones but be warned on how they are
supposed to use them wisely for benefits (Milrad, & Spikol, 2007). There are laws implemented
that outlines the punishments someone may be given when communication is destructive. Since

most of the college students are father and mothers with a few being singles, phones are essential
as far as financial transactions, entertainment, communication and education research is
concerned. I agree that phones should be used in colleges.
