Summary:
The article was based on the fact that the use of electronic health record (EHR) has
increased the complexity associated with the primary care. The complexity is resulting from
the fact that the physicians are contributing too much time both within their working hours
and after their working hours, which is resulting in them experiencing burnout very
frequently. The study was focused on assessing the time the primary care physicians
contribute within the HER. The study involved 142 family medicine physicians and a
retrospective cohort method was used for this study. The study found that the physicians
consume about six hours per day interacting through EHR both within and after their work
hours (Arndt et al., 2017). The article also suggests that a successful delegation of EHR
related works can successfully reduce the workload and burnout in the physicians along with
increasing the professional satisfaction.
