Executive Summary
This report gives an overview of Picoso Restaurant and advantages of Mobile application over web
based systems that need to be implemented for ordering home deliveries. Picoso is a Mexican
Restaurant situated on various locations at the Sunshine Coast. Currently, they are offering eat in and
take away services to their client who use their web based platform. The restaurant wants to introduce
home deliveries which will enable Picoso to serve their great range of customers thus leveraging strong
brand recognition at marginal cost.
It is in this light that the organization are updating their web based system to in cooperate home
delivery services to enhance their services. Mr. El Paso the CEO of the organization and his associates
have commissioned my firm, NMC Consultancy to prepare a business management report and explain
the benefits of developing a customer mobile application to support their business and their new
delivery system.
At the end of this report, Picoso Restaurant will make learn something’s considering their plan of
implementing a Customer mobile application.

Mobile applications is a software that can be used on several small devices like phones and tablets.
Mobile applications are easily accessible by many users and thus making it easy for use by many. It is a
good framework for technologies that are used for accessing various information, and can be
downloaded and accessed online or offline. It ensures the security and integrity of the data by tracking
system activities (Wagner, 2014).
Overview of Customer Mobile APP
Customer Mobile application that Picoso Restaurant need to implement, is concerned with how
customers will be able to request for home deliveries at the comfort of their location. Over the years,
businesses are losing track of their profits due to lack of home deliveries keeping in mind the changing
global technologies like people who are working at home or during bad weather days. Mobile
application is a vital component and its main purpose should be making sure that users are being served
well and organizations in this case Picoso, are boosting their business. The home deliveries will ease
congestion at the restaurant as well as create business opportunities to some people who are jobless.
Topic 1: Benefits of Mobile application over Web Based Systems
Mobile applications have more benefits than Web based systems as discussed in length below. As
Picoso Restaurant plans to develop a customer mobile application, it will grow in size and their
workforce becomes large and more dispersed. Mobile users have increased with time therefore desktop
is losing popularity with time. Therefore not many people are using web based systems as compared to
Mobile applications.
Mobile applications have more features than web based systems, therefore many users will prefer to
use such features like camera, calculators as they navigate through their mobile application. Keeping in
mind the increased internet costs, Picoso customers will have ability to work offline and request for
their deliveries and therefore the restaurant will have more clients using the application unlike web
based system whereby one is required to use internet connectivity. Mobile application is highly
available especially to people that do not own desktops and standalone. Mobile applications have
better personalized communication features than web based systems, therefore the customers will feel
a touch of ownership while using the mobile applications compared to web based systems whereby
they are customized by the organizations and cannot be changed.
Keeping in mind Picoso Restaurants are the ones who are coming up with their own design application,
this shows that they will have a well-tailored applications and thus the feel of proprietorships. Picoso
Clients will feel the strength of customer care and thus use the application more thus boosting the
business. Customers tend to trust and love organizations that come up with great innovations that ease
livelihood. Picoso Restaurant will also have a better and faster way of sending notifications to their

clients. Mobile applications have better features of sending applications better than web based systems,
and thus clients will be up dated in case of any new communication or advert that the Restaurant is
giving. The clients get ready hand information while it is still new.
Topic 2: Work Breakdown Structure
For Picoso Restaurant, the following WBS will be effective for the restaurant:
The management should come up with the implementation plan. The mobile application system should
have user login where the user signs up for the application. The application should manage accounts for
different clients where a client creates his or her own account.
The mobile application of Picoso Restaurant should be able to make clients be able to move items
between accounts as they make their orders.
A client should be able to make an order or cancel it in case of any changes needed. The application
should be able to help a customer make payments then close the account. The mobile application
should then send a receipt to the client and management of Picoso, for accounts balancing. The client
should be able to print the receipt of the items purchase.
The group that will implement the customer mobile application, will be required to create the project
work breakdown structure by identifying the major functional deliverables and splitting them to smaller
systems and sub-systems. The sub-systems are further split until a single person can be assigned a
particular task to handle for efficiency. Here, the specific work packages supposed to be delivered are
arrange and grouped together. The work packages shows list of jobs that at the end produce the
specific unit of work. As usually realized, tasks placed under stuff need to be completed by a specific
time and within a specific level of effort limits.
Looking at the Mobile Application implementation of Picoso Restaurant from a cost perspective, these
work packages will be grouped and allotted to exact department to produce the work accordingly. The
departments, or cost accounts, will be defined in an administrative analysis structure and are allocated
a budget to produce the specific results as required.
When Picoso Restaurant will be creating a WBS, it will be a major project but not the only planning
deliverable a project manager will be required to complete when planning a project. As NMC
Consultancy, I will advise Picoso Restaurant that WBS is not only thing you will do for deliverable but it’s
a must to do it. Once the WBS is completed, you must develop a dependency network, estimate Activity
duration, acquire and assign resources, calculate and refine the schedule, and baseline the plan. Most of
the steps can be carried simultaneously, but it is absolutely true that you cannot complete the
dependency network, the estimates, the work assignments, or the schedule until the WBS is complete.

Topic 3: Alternative to in-house development of a mobile
Application.
For Picoso Restaurant to develop an in-built mobile application, it would be a great idea as discussed
above. However, as NMC consultancy, I would recommend that Picoso Restaurant Management should
try to consider purchasing mobile application that has already been developed, used by other
restaurants for surety due to the following issues;
i. Picoso Restaurant may not have enough time needed to develop an in house mobile application.
ii. Ready-made mobile applications might be cheaper than in-house built applications.
iii. In Built application may be a new experience to Picoso, therefore there will be lack of experience
on how to use the new application. Also, a ready-made system that has been in the market has
the capability of increasing productivity because it has been tested and verified many times.
iv. In this case, Picoso are not developing a mobile application for sale, it is for their own use,
therefore no profit to their business.
v. A ready-made application is already available, so no need to develop another one.
Conclusion
Developing a customer mobile application is not an easy task especially to an organization like Picoso
Restaurant, who needs to come up with a great application for effective customer services. Therefore
Picoso Restaurant will have to dedicate their time, money and resources for them to come up with the
best Customer Mobile Application that will suit their business. Mobile application will increase the
efficiency of home deliveries and ease communication between Picoso and its vast customers. The
application will help minimize disappointments to client.
Mobile applications are the new trend that various businesses are using to reach out to their clients
compared to the old way of web based systems. This is technology makes the clients and business
owners have a good relationship for they learn in depth what the customers really need. Mobile
application is an instant platform that helps the business manager’s instant information how the client
