INTRODUCTION
Skill audit is a methodical evaluation of individuals’ skills as well as knowledge. This
assessment helps in order to evaluate personality weaknesses as well as strengths in order to take
situation opportunities and avoid threats in most appropriate manner so that it can help in order
to achieve higher success in their personal as well as professional life (Vogtenhuber, S., 2018).
This study will highlight the thoughts related to preparation of placement along with reflective
record of business placement that help me in order to prepare for my future career achievement
and expansion opportunities.
PART A: PREPARATION FOR PLACEMENT
In order to start preparation for the placement within a well known organization, I primarily
started my evaluation of skills that are incurred within me which helps me in order to achieve
heights in my career success (Marufuzzaman, M., and et.al., 2021). While working in my
previous company, there are various things that I have learned such as planning of strategies,
time management as work under deadlines with pressure, prioritize my tasks, communication
skills management skills, leadership skills, stress management, along with personal development
planning. For the purpose of conducting skill audit of myself I prefer SWOT analysis:

PART B: REFLECTIVE DIARY OF INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENT
Reflection helps individuals to develop their skills and review their effectiveness rather than
doing things in just their regular mode with their existing abilities. It helps to create a situation
which enhances learning ability within them. It is about questioning in just positive manner
which requires improvements for the betterment in future career opportunities. This part is
related to the reflective diary of construction industry placement and the things that I have
learned at the time when I was doing my job in my previous company and the ways through
which I was able to enhance my abilities of working as well as my skills. I will evaluate and
reflect my personal understandings along with my enhanced skills that I have developed during
my work. The placement record is described below:
My good experience within the maven construction organization is highly considerable as I get
to know or learn about various different methods and processes in order to achieve success in my
future career terms (Brecher, C., 2017). For instance, I have learnt and able to increase my
detailed planning skill in an appropriate manner which helps me to strategize my work in most
precise and specific method which ultimately helps me in order to get success in my assignments
and tasks. With the help of such skill I am able to gather all my team members and describe the
task in detailed way along with properly division of work as well. During that time I was also
able to enhance my personal organization skills which help me to handle large team groups in
more suitable way. Moreover, systematic procedure helps in order to complete complex tasks
while adopting effective utilization of resources as well as time. So, I have learnt that effective
procedures are highly capable to complete the tasks in prescribed duration of time. Maven
construction is well known and reputable firm in which all the necessary decisions have been
taken by the top management people of the organization along with the discussion with
subordinates with the help of getting suggestions to complete the task and for the smooth
functioning of the assignments which has been prepared for the betterment of the establishment.
With the procedures that had been followed by the top management people in that organisation, I
have learnt the importance of doing work and practices that are related to the establishment in
ethical manner and thus build values and effective culture at the workplace in order to attract

more potential consumers towards the organization. These activities help in order to build
successful image in front of other competitive firms at the market space (Acharjee, P., 2017). It
also creates an environment of customer satisfaction which helps in order to expand business
activities in market space. In order to achieve such situations, the functioning within the
establishment has been divided into many sectors or departments such as finance department,
marketing department, research and development, human resource department, IT department
and many more which are efficient in their own ways to perform their tasks in most effectual
manner. However, all the deoartments are working together in order to achieve their main and
one organizational goal which is maximization of profits with high amount of satisfaction among
consumers as well as employees. Although all departments function in their own way for
instance, marketing department are accountable to attract potential consumers, research and
development department are in charge for collecting information regarding the desires of
customers, human resource people are responsible to hire efficient and talented employees within
the firm in order to complete the tasks without any confusion or loss way.
Moreover, I have evaluated that the Maven construction company utilises six stages in order to
process their construction projects more effectively and within proper time frame. The primary
stage includes preparation of the concept of the project that needs to be constructed. Normally
this stage starts with the clients and their requirements and searching of correct location and the
standards in order to complete the project. This stage may take few days or even few months in
order to complete this stage within the project preparation. At this phase, the main power lies
within the owners’ hands rather than construction workers. Second step involves Designing as it
is the appropriate time to sit and decide about the design that needs to be followed by them in
order to finish the project effectively (Dustdar, S., 2017). Although it is also considered as the
primary stage which describes that still nothing is permanent and can be changed at any point of
time. At this stage there are four general steps which involve encoding, schematic plan, design
expansion and agreement certification. It is basic stage in which the contract has been prepared
which has been utilised in the construction fields in Maven construction establishment. Pre
construction stage is the third stage within the construction projects as it includes the bidding of
Maven Construction Company and the contractor that has been chosen for the specific work. At
this stage all the necessary information has been collected and the plans have been prepared
according to the findings. This is basically a time taking process as final decisions have been

made after proper hearing of suggestions from all members involved. The fourth stage is the
procurement stage at which material, equipments as well as the workforce have been obtained in
order to complete the project assignment. This process may vary in different projects as small
projects require fewer workforces while vice versa. For hiring of labour, contractors are
responsible for the completion of project. Construction stage is the fifth stage at which the work
begins after achievement of all the meetings. It includes the assessment of project sites, quality
control, warehouse space and the hours of working. Finally the last stage come named as post
construction stage at which the task has been completed and the project will come to an end. At
this final stage, monitoring has been done after evaluation of final outcome with the desired
result. Therefore, from starting till end each and everything has been inspected in order to rectify
things if required and certain actions have been taken to finish the project (Javadi, B., 2021).
With the help of complete experience, I came to the conclusion and learnt various things in order
to resolve issues that have been created while performing for any specific project. When I have
given a project to handle by my top management people within the Maven construction
company, I faced a lot of issues and challenges within the project but with the help of my
effectual management skills, I was able to handle the assignment in most efficient manner and
thus able to sustain market position in front of other competitive construction organizations.
Initially, I have faced problem related to miscommunication which leads the situation of conflicts
among the workers. At that duration of time, I had find the exact problems from where the
confusion arises and comes to a conclusion that improper division of work creates such drastic
situation which completely affects my project working. So, with using my management and
communication skills, I had distribute the work according to individual abilities and skills and
counsel each of them through my effective communication skills which helps me at that time to
satisfy each one of them or satisfies them in complete manner. This was my personal experience
into any project that I solely handle the situation in effective way (Soman, R., and et.al., 2019).
Moreover, one more challenge that I had to face that time was the limited skills in some of the
workers which restrict our work of project in somehow drastic manner. So, with proper
evaluation of the weaknesses among each worker, I had arranged a training session which was
taken by me in order to provide them and inform them about the important aspects of the project,
which ultimately helps them to understand the complete assignment in detailed manner. So, that
they are able to work for this task in easy way.

Furthermore, during the whole project, the guidance from my seniors had helped me a lot to
resolve various problems and challenges that I have faced that time. Aprt from this, the
knowledge that I have gained during my university days also helped me a lot in order to evaluate
various risks at prior position along with proper budgeting of the complete assignment in
successful manner. Although, I face some challenges as well due to lack of my detailed planning
skills which lead me somehow lack behind completion of whole project within the particular
time duration as at that time I was unable to prepare the deadline of the assignment in effectual
manner. But my seniors had helped me in that and through them I was able to prepare my
deadline table to complete the whole assignment within turnaround time. Moreover, my positive
attitude helped me to take feedbacks from all and work upon them in optimistic way and calm
myself in each challenging or adverse situation. Therefore, I have realised that having theoretical
knowledge is far different from the practical knowledge as it includes various experiences. In
that project I have experienced various practical experiences which will help me to enhance my
skills and abilities which are beneficial for my future career perspective.
This project also enhance my leadership as well as management skills and I had learned a lot
during this project as I had utilized various leadership qualities according to individual and
handle each one of them to satisfy them in complete manner along with the fulfilment of the
purpose of project. At some point I have to become transformational type of leader in order to
make my team mates motivated to complete the task with adapting external as well as internal
change requirements which are necessary for the project. However, At some point, I had to
become authoritarian type of leader to guide them in strict manner about the completion of
project deadlines as during that time, it was necessary for all of us to provide strict instruction for
the betterment of the whole assignment (Lin, J.K., 2021). So, I was able to enhance my skills
through which I am able to handle team or group of people as well.
Apart from this, the management of things with proper rules and regulations, using code of
conduct in efficient way, value of professional commitments, creation and importance
maintaining good cultural environment at work place, ways to boost morale of workers at the site
and many other things I have learnt during my working at Maven construction company. Thus, I
have decided to work as strategic manager for the betterment of my future career goals as I have
enhanced my skills related to management and planning things appropriately. However, I was
also able to analyse my certain weaknesses and decide to work over them to have bright future

and grab various opportunities in my future. I have understood the ways in which multinational
companies operates according to the requirement of external environment. Although I have faced
many challenges but I proceed further with finding pro per solutions to each problem that I faced
during my assignment. Likewise, I prepared occupational action plan in order to advance my key
weak points along with enhancement of my existing abilities to get better employment

From the above study it can be concluded that the reflection diary about the practices that I

life. During my tasks, I have evaluated that I had faced a lot of problems and challenges but with
my efficient working I was able to get over all of that and thus now I realised that I have various
placement opportunities in other establishments as well which will help me to achieve my
