Plagiarism can be defined as the practice of taking some other person work or ideas and
passing them off as their own
Plagiarism can be defined as an act of fraud. It includes both stealing someone else work and
lying about it afterward.
Failing to properly quote, cite or acknowledge someone else works or ideas with an internal
citation are also considered as plagiarism (Merriam-Webster, 2017).
All of the following are considered as plagiarism:
1)Turning in some other person work as your own.
2) Words and ideas are copied from someone without giving credit.
3) Failing to put a quotation in quotation marks.
4) Giving wrong information about the source of a quotation.
5) The words are changed but the structure of the sentence is copied without giving the
credit.
6) Words or ideas are copied from a source that it makes the majority of your work whether
giving credit or not.
7) Copying media from the other websites and paste them in your own papers or websites.
8) Making a video using footage from others videos or using copyrighted music as part of the
soundtrack.
9) Composing a piece of music that borrows heavily from another composition.
PENALTIES FOR PLAGIARISM
Penalties for plagiarism depends on the amount which has been plagiarized and whether
there are previous offences and it includes
Repeating the piece of work with a maximum possible mark of 40% for the piece of work in
question .Repeating the piece of work with a maximum possible mark of 40% for the whole
module.
Repeating the piece of work with a maximum possible mark of 0% for the whole module.
Permanent exclusion from the university (Bradford, 2015).
AVOIDING PLAGIARISM
Citing and referencing is an integral part of writing any assignment. Make sure the writer
cite and refer every source use by the writer while doing the writing. Don't think it as a
separate job and leave it for the end which will lead to missing some places the writer need to
