Unit work
The aim is to develop an effective plan for providing understanding over the preparation
of research thesis. It includes plan for giving grammar based lessons so as to determine all the
activities that are needed to be performed for improving the understanding of each student
relating to preparation of research thesis. (Biancos, 2017).
The present plan helps in determining a range of factors that are needed to be taken into
account for the purpose of giving lectures upon various grammar based project for improving the
effectiveness of lecture. Further, it will help the students in improving their understanding of
various text books and academic writings based on research thesis.

Rationale of unit work :
The teacher has selected the grammar lesson for preparing thesis reports because
grammar is the base for effective reading and writing. Improper application of grammar or
grammatical mistakes in the analysing and understanding the thesis and can completely distort
the meaning and essence of the information that is given in the report (Larsen-Freeman, 2015).
Some major errors which people make in the thesis formation are related to use of proper
subject, verb, punctuations, spelling, using of correct form of tenses. A simple misplacing of
comma or other punctuation can entirely change the meaning of the report. .
skills of reading and writing research thesis reports are necessary for students as it is
going to help them not only in their primary or secondary studies but it will also help them in
their professional life. Effective analysing and understanding skills are one of the most
demanded skills in every field of work and this is the reason why the teacher has chosen the
lesson based on reading, writing and reviewing thesis reports. Another reason why the lesson
was based on thesis was that, that it helps in improving the understanding power (Heikkilä and
Mannila, 2018). This means that rule of grammar assist the learners to establish a habit of
critical, clear and logical thinking of a report which will result into making the learners more
efficient and accurate while using the language. Students when unable understand any written
report or makes too many grammatical mistakes in their thesis writing, it is directly reflected on
the grades they get. Also, most of the time due to incorrect analysis, students fails to impress the
teacher with their writing and speaking skills. Such errors hinder the growth and development of
students at the personal and academic level which if not corrected could seriously hamper their
professional growth in future life (Bianco, 2017).
Evaluation oft unit work:
As per the plan prepared for providing lectures on Preparation of research report, it can
be evaluated that there is a plan to provide a lecture to students for developing and improving
their understanding towards reports developed on several topics. This lecture will help them in
improving student's skill and knowledge about the language and report analysing. The 1st
session of lecture will be of is a warm up session in which all the basic principles of grammar
and formation of basic sentences would be taught. For this purpose basic student activity would
be developing pairs of words and suggesting maximum adjectives and nouns. it will help in

providing all the basic rules of grammar for effective preparation of thesis reports (Graus and
Coppen, 2016). For the effective completion of this session, a whiteboard, markers, laptop and a
projector will be needed.
The next session lead in session In which, a detailed lesson would be provided regarding
efficiently reading the thesis reports. In addition, knowledge about use of appropriate
punctuation in the thesis reports will be provided. For this purpose, a teacher's activity will be
conducted in which mistakes in several sentences made for thesis purpose will be asked so that
they could read and understand the overall report easily. Further, during this lecture a student's
activity will also be conducted in which students will be asked to make research on some general
grammatical mistakes in numerous sentences. It will improve the understanding of students. For
this purpose a white board and a projector would be needed (Cho, 2018).
in the next lesson learner's ability to understand the thesis reports will be developed and
improved. for this purpose they will be reminded all the basic rules of language and thesis
reports. It will help in improving understanding power of students. in addition, in the review
lesson, activities will be conducted by teachers that will help in generating abilities and skills in
students about reviewing all the topics of thesis report and determining overall result of research
as well. In the lesson based on writing skills of research thesis, knowledge about the actual
meaning of each component of the report and rules to be followed regarding formation of
sentences for each topic will be provided. it will help in ensuring that the thesis report prepared
by the learners will be able to give the appropriate review of specific topic.
Furthermore, the next session is revise and wrap up session. For the closer session of the
lecture in which the teacher will ask several questions to the students for analysing the
improvement in their understanding. A cross questioning session will also be conducted along
with taking a proper test of learners regarding reviewing, analysing and writing the thesis. This
session will help in effectively analysing the actual ability of the students in understanding and
reviewing various thesis. In addition, it will also build a curiosity among students towards
improving their understanding about reports. Moreover, wrap up session also includes a students'
activity in which they will be giving a chance to ask several; queries regarding preparation of
thesis. Further, they will also be asked to give their feedbacks towards the lecture provided to
them. It will help in analysing the effectiveness of the lecture (Carter and McCarthy, 2017).

Further, a suggestion sheet will also be provided to students in which they would be asked to
give their suggestions for improving the quality of lectures provided to them.
