Introduction
Qatar is recently focusing extensively on the sustainable
tourism. It is very important to understand the implications of
sustainable tourism and the steps in the process of planning
along with evaluation of favourable and unfavourable factors
of sustainable tourism development.

What is Sustainability
The concept of sustainability is the developmental
method needed for the development of a specific region,
along with growth of that specific sector or industry in
context of economical, social and environmental aspects
(Alhadi, 2015)

Use of Sustainability in tourism development.
• Usage of sustainability in Qatar tourism will be supported by
the Triple Bottom Line Theory.
• This theory will include three different aspects of
development.
• Three aspects of development are economic, social and
environmental aspect.

• The Triple Bottom Line Theory is aimed towards the optimum
utilisation of renewable natural resources.
• Specific focus is given on water conservation and reducing the

appeal of the Qatar as a result of potential degradation.
• Social discrimination and injustice among the human rights will
promote crime and this will provide adverse affect on tourism
business (Wilson, 2015).
• Frequent fluctuation in exchange rates will also provide adverse
affect on the Qatar tourism.
• Low education will also restrict the sustainable tourism
development.

Phases of planning promoting sustainability
- • The selection and the development of the long term and short term goals

Conclusion
Sustainability in tourism planning will significantly solve the
social, environmental and economical aspects in tourism sector
in Qatar. However, there are several other factors that may
restrict the planning process. Planning process will include the
phases that is required to develop an effective plan for the
development of the tourism in Qatar.
