Plant diversity is defined as the total variability which is seen among all species and their
habitats. It strongly helps in influencing thee services and functions of ecosystems like soil
carbon and storage (Lange et al.2015). Sporopollenin is an important component of the outer
exine of spores as well as pollen grains containing various fatty acids and mixture of
biopolymers. Alternation of generation is a kind of life cycle occurring in algae and those
plants having distinct asexual diploid stages and sexual haploid stages. Haploid spores
ultimately germinate into a haploid gametophyte. Seedless vascular plants differ from non-
vascular plants in having a vascular tissue but no seeds. Gymnosperms have seeds but no
flowers whereas angiosperms have all components like seeds, vascular tissue, flowers.
Monilophytes are the well-known components of the flora inclusive of the spore bearing
plants which are vascular like lycophytes, spikemosses as well as quillworts. Monilophytes or
ferns are different as they reproduce from the spores and develop into an intermediate plant
stage called the gametophyte. Embryophytes are those subkingdoms of plants where there
is retention of the embryo in the maternal tissues inclusive of the bryophytes as well as the
tracheophytes. Plant anatomy provides fundamental information regarding the structure of the
plant and its development (Steeves and Sawhney, 2017).Within the leaf anatomy, stomata
are those pores which facilitate gaseous exchange through various holes in the cuticles and
do not have a waxy cuticle as present in stem and leaves. Thus, an insight into plant diversity
is important.
