Report
AI Summary
This report, submitted as part of a PPMP20012 unit portfolio, compares and contrasts the advantages and disadvantages of manual and electronic project management (PM) application systems across all PM knowledge areas throughout a project's lifecycle. The report highlights the benefits of electronic systems, such as efficient data evaluation and reduced overhead costs, while acknowledging the ease of use associated with manual systems, particularly for smaller projects. It suggests a hybrid approach, combining manual methods with electronic tools for comprehensive project tracking and analysis. The report references key readings, including SEBoK Part 4 and AS/NZS 15288:2015, and emphasizes the importance of software packages in managing project data efficiently for better decision-making. The analysis covers the evolution from fully manual systems to the current integration of electronic media, reflecting the increasing complexity of modern projects. Supporting documentation includes references to key sources that explore the impact of technology on project management and decision making.

2. The software

regarding the
project

project life cycle..
In order to manage a process or the project two types of systems can be
considered. The manual process of keeping the records about the requirements
and the progress of the projects and other is managing all the resources and to
control the process through the use of software and electronic computer.
The software packages and the system developed by the software companies
such as IBM and Oracle can help to manage the data efficiently (Al-Mamary,
Shamsuddin,& Abdul Hamid, 2013). The making of investment for these
software are worthy as, these will efficiently help to manage and analyse the
data required for the project management process. In case, the complexity of
the project makes the data and requirements complex, managing and
processing those information may not be efficiently done through keeping the
track of the activity in manual way by writing it in sticky and diary. It may be
assumed that the use of the electronic medium in order to process the project
management will eliminate the use of some of the manual ways of managing
information. However, this concept may not be fully accepted. The use of the
electronic medium and the software packages provided by the IBM and Oracle
is very much efficient in managing and evaluating the information which can be
beneficial for the decision making process (SEBoK, 2018). The us e of diagram
and keeping the sticky updated can be done by the computers also. However,
the project managers can use the manual way partially to keep the record of
the progress of the project and update about the processes of the project. It can
be said from the discussion that the project management process can be more
effective through use of electronic media and partial use of the manual process
management techniques. The fully manual techniques were used earlier in
keeping the track of the project management. However, at that time the
concept about the managing of the project was not so clear, and the complexity
