AI Summary
This report, part of Varun Thatikonda's PPMP20012 unit portfolio, delves into the critical role of project management application systems in facilitating effective project management, knowledge management, and decision-making. The report highlights how these systems support project managers and teams in resolving risks, verifying project details through testing (black box and white box), and managing various aspects like system development, maintenance, and operation. It also emphasizes the importance of communication and knowledge management areas such as decision, quality, and risk management. The report references mandatory and optional readings from the course, including materials on systems engineering and management, and explores the application of these concepts in project execution, monitoring performance, and change management within the infrastructure and resource industries. The content draws from lectures and readings, including PMI standards for program and portfolio management, and examines systems thinking tools and techniques to aid project managers in solving project problems.

Describe how the
use of PM
application system
can lead to
effective PM
knowledge
management and
decision making
The lecture details of Week 6 helped me to realize the role of project
management application system and the way through which project managers
and project team members can use this to lead project towards effective
decision-making. With the help of effective and appropriate decision making
different potential project level risks can be successfully resolved. In order to
take decision making the role of verification and validations are also discussed
by the project lead and project team members.
The project verification identified the purpose to conduct a project activity, the
ideas work behind a particular project term, the team vision, and level of
concern and order of performance. Through verification the project manager
would come to detect and identify issues oriented to suppliers. In order to verify
the details of system and their application the testing that are conducted by the
project associates are black box testing and white box testing. Apart from this,
the other topics those have been discussed in this weekly lecture include system
development, system maintenance, system operation and logistics.
In order to plan transition systems the different activities those are conducted
include installation, integration, and verification, on site acceptance test.
I have learned the details of system engineering management in this lecture
classes. The knowledge management areas deal with system engineering are
decision management, measurement, quality management, risk management,
information management and configuration management. Apart from that, I
have also learned that effective communication is also required to conduct any
project and share information among all project associates.
