1BUSINESS CASE AND PROJECT PLAN
Slide 1: Company Overview
I conducted the project study on the business case of Target Store for opening a new outlet In
Canada. Target Store is famous for its red wine, low prices, solid quality of products and
services. Those are the factors helped the company to stock up their household products,
electronics and clothes. Target started to expand their operations in international market with
Canadian households. I identified few challenges faced by Target Store while expanding its
business in Canada. The main problems are lack of lack of knowledge related to the culture
of Canadian retail store, due to which it is difficult to understand the market segments. There
are pricing wars among its competitors like Wal-Mart, Costco, Giant Tiger, and Sears. There
are also identification of problem in supply chain affected distribution channels as well as
shelf replenishment. It lead to stock outs which can lead to customers to lose their patience
with Target Store in Canada.
Slide 2: Literature Review
I identified some of the project management approaches in project initiation and planning
helpful to plan a business case. Waterfall method is aimed to eliminate project risks by
outlining the project stages. Agile is focused on team collaboration and helped to improve
business productivity. Six sigma is a method used to improve over quality of the project by
reduction of defects. PRINCE2 is just a method to manage the project and conduct project
documentation for corporate planning. SCRUM methodology is focused in sharp delivery of
the project with speedy responses to the client. Lean empowers the project team to deliver a
value product and services. Kanban is a methodology designed for project team to steady
stream of project deliverables in continuous workflows. Finally, PMBOK is valuable for the
business organization as it allowed the companies to standardize the project management
practices.
