INTRODUCTION
Justice is the concept which includes the fairness in the way people of society dealt. It is
the main duty of the police officers to use all the relevant power and resources they have to
cope up with the crime present in their state. There is rapid increase in knife crime in UK
that results in creation of feeling of fear among the local people of society. The main
purpose of this presentation is about understanding the available resources have by UK
police to deal with such kind of unwanted situations.

Aims and Objective
• To improve current power posses by UK police to reduce knife crime in UK by
20% within 6 months of time period.
• To improve the presence of police at different community levels by 30% within
next one month of time period.
• To reduce sensationalist media coverage by 30% within next 2 months of time
period
• To improve the education level on knife crime by 40% among the general public

Literature
Rise in Knife crime
Knife crime in UK increases with rapid rate. It was noticed that in 2017, in England
and Wales this crime is rose by 22%. This is recorded as the highest annual increase. The
incident of knife crime comes into focus when 13 year old children being stabbed after fierce
argument. As per the sources ascertained from the government report, major reason behind
increment of knife crime in UK was drug dealing. Huge role is played by the technology too
in the high rise in crime as this will results in creation of tit for tat violence.

Police powers
According to Delsol, (2015), Police has different powers that can be accessed when
they feel something suspected is going on in society. The major extraordinary powers hold by the
police officers of UK includes detention of people in suspected circumstances along with that
they also authorised to stop and search their vehicles. These police officers also have the power
to cease and retain the property in certain suspected circumstances. The circumstances are termed
as indulging in the process of illegal drugs, weapon, stolen property and something that can be
used to commit crime like Knife. UK government allows the police officer to arrest any person
with or without warrant if they feel that any individual of society is suspected under any crime

Police presence and visibility on a community level
According to Grubb, Brown and Hall, (2015), Presence of police help in providence
of secured environment to the community. While, the knife crime is rises in different cities of
UK, understood that there is much awaited role is needed to be played by police by increasing
their presence at different community levels. This will provides an opportunity to remove the
sense of fear from the local people of society. In this regard, many steps are also taken from
the government side where different task forces are established with the aim of combating
crime in the areas which are most affected. Technology also played major role.

Media coverage on exposing knife crime on a sensationalist level
According to Reid, (2016), Media plays the huge role in depicting the image of state
in front of the local people of society. Irresponsible reporting on knife crime depicts that the
group of people belongs from minority along with youngsters are inherently criminal. This
kind of reporting labels the young people as gangsters. Local people of the society believes on
the information provided from the media. So, it is important for them to play crucial role in
the providence of accurate and reliable information.

Educational means of explaining knife crimes and its severity to the general public
According to Holligan, (2015), Knife crime is severe in UK and adversely affected
the lives of society. It is important to focus on cause behind the knife crimes as to find out
the possible solutions and remove them from their root. It is important to disburse all the
important information related to knife crime to general public as to create awareness among
them and help to fight against this moment which rapidly increase in UK. The points that
can be learned after its actual and deep exploration is that not only the Black, Asian and
Ethnic minorities indulge in such activities.

Methodology
The methodology which is used to carry out all research is known as mixed method
research. Under this, includes the description of the view points of the different authors
and explanation of the facts and news from the different sources.

• Change in the legislations and standards to improve the power of police officers
• Hiring and establishment of different level of task force to combat crimes and place them
to different community levels
• To bring new legislations that bring control over the functioning and working of media
channels
• To provide education to large number of public that not indulge in such crime and never
judge the people on the basis of the community and religion from which they belongs.

CONCLUSION
• It has been concluded from the above report that huge role is
played by police in combating the crime. There are different types
of power are possess by police officers that can be used in the
situation of serious crime. There many directions are taken by
government side too where they built different task force to
reduce the level of crime. Media role is also very important as this
will disseminate information at different levels. They must play
their sensibly and provide accurate and reliable information.
