INTRODUCTION
Policy review memo is defined as a document which determines an analysis and various
recommendations in context with a specific audience for a problem. In context with National
security there are many threats which were been faced. The main importance of national security
is that it protects all audiences from such threats. There are many issues like terrorism, hostile
governments, cybercrimes and many more(Chang, 2021). As in terms of Terrorism, there were
many countries who were facing threats from certain groups who are tolerated by foreign
powers(Maltseva and Rozenfeld,2020). It is a major issue of national security as it causes
disruption and also in the form of cybercrime. In terms of US foreign policy they also have
different issues like the major and at present the issues is COVID pandemic as it killed more than
one million people and led to the period of recession. It became necessary for them to protect all
global interests.
In context with the central policy it was mainly to promote the level of freedom and
protecting all human rights in relation with both national security and US foreign
policy(EYLEMER, 2020). There were many questions on which central policy was based on
different things like how can US convince European, Canadian partners to provide contribution
for collective defence and how they can protect their critical infrastructure and determine overall
terrorism which is been done.
MAIN BODY
Objectives of national security
 The main objective of national security is to protect all citizens, oversees territories and
British Nationals Overseas(Golden, 2020). It was considered their main responsibility to
protect democracy and all principles.
 Another objective was project global influence in context with decreasing all threats
which are affecting and creating impact on interests.
 US government also enabled the objective of promoting the level of prosperity(Velut,
2021). It was been done by providing different opportunities, working in an innovative
way and at the same time supporting industry.

 In context with US foreign policy the main objectives were to protect all American
citizens in context with the threat of terrorism, infectious health issues, cyber crime and
so on(Harris, 2020).
 Government enabled a goal to prevent all terrorist attacks which are happening and
assuring that there is stability in all regions(Voss, 2020).
Several options of US policy
There are many options in context with national security as well as US foreign policy like
naval quarantine, air strikes and so on(Koizumi, 2020). It is further been explained as below:- Naval quarantine:- In context with Cuban Missile Crisis in year 1962, there was a major
confrontation between both United states and The Soviet Union during the phase of cold
war. In this year an American U-2 spy plane was been photographed secretly on the
island of Cuba(Udokanma, Ogamba and Ilo, 2021). There were various meetings which
was been held so at last it was decided by the President to enable a naval Blockade which
was named as Quarantine. The main objective behind it was to prevent Soviets in order to
bring more military supplies. Air strikes:- US established air strikes in Syria for targeting certain facilities near Iraq
border which was been used by Iranian Backed militia groups. It was determined as the
first military action initiated by Biden administration(Di Domenico and et.al, 2021). The
decision to carry out air strikes was mainly to send a signal during the phase when US
wanted to punish militias. The usage of air strikes destroyed certain facilities at border
which was used by Iranian backed militant groups. It was beneficial because the country
determined a willingness for using their strong military and was helpful for North Korea
but at the same point of time they had a weakness that it was not enhancing multi-lateral
platforms in context with costs and risks associated with military action(Sinsky and
Linzer, 2020). It was analysed that US spend around $6.4 trillion on the war and the
prediction was made that total costs would be around $7 trillion.
 Full scale ground invasion:- During the phase of Cuban Revolution in 1959, there were
certain revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro overthrew who recognised Cuba new national
government. In context with Full scale ground invasion it was initiated in order to
overthrow new Castro government(Sancino, Budd and Pagani, 2021). It involved aerial
bombing before linking it with a full scale ground attack and the Bay of pigs. Through

this all Americans got nuclear power with around 300 land based ballistic missiles and
also Polaris submarines(Moore and et.al, 2020).
Recommendations
It has been recommended that they should implement the policy of naval quarantine. It
will help the state in enhancing air defences and also protects the shipping interests in relation
with Florida Strait(Kourtelis, 2021). The government should also enable full scale ground
invasion as it helped them in removing the installations and mistakes been done in context with
Soviet military(Mukherjee and Giest, 2020). It was recommended to use invasion because it
assured destruction of all equipments in Cuba.
Reflection
From the above information I have learned that as per the US foreign policy and national
security it became very much necessary to protect human rights and give effective freedom to all
of them. I also learned that government took many policies and how they cared about all
American citizens which was good for everyone. It is the main responsibility of us and we
should follow all responsibility so that citizens feel that their rights are been followed.
I also learned that from the threat of terrorism and heath issues government took many
steps so it is my duty also to follow all such policies and help them also in formulating in in
effective manner. As cybercrime was getting increased so I assured that there is stability in
whole area.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that both national security as well as US
foreign policy main objective was to protect American citizens from all kind of threats like
Terrorism, cyber crimes and so on. There were different options in context with US foreign
policy which were applied by government like the usage of Air strikes, full scale ground invasion
and many more.
