1POLITICAL COMPASS SELF-TEST REFLECTION
As stated by Brown (2018), libertarianism and authoritarianism are the two most
important political ideologies which had dominated the landscape of the world politics since the
ancient times. Prichard et al. (2017) are of the viewpoint that although the political ideology of
authoritarianism was formally postulated by Juan Linz in 1964 and the concept of libertarianism
gained popularity from the works of William Belsham in the late 18th century yet they have been
used since the traditional times by the different political ideologists. These two concepts as a
matter of fact form the two most important components of the political compass which is being
presently used by the individuals to identify the political inclinations of the different politicians
or the individuals. In this paper, I would reflect on my experience of taking the Political
Compass self-test.
I would like to say that the Political Compass Quiz was a great learning experience for
me and also helped me to understand the extent to which I learned the concepts related to the
Political Compass, which were taught in our class. To be very honest, I found the assignment a
bit difficult since I needed to complete the quiz within a stipulated amount of time and did not
have adequate amount of time to actually think about the answers. However, the effectiveness
with which the lectures were delivered by our Professor and also my understanding of the
concepts of Political Compass, libertarianism and authoritarianism helped me to complete the
quiz. More importantly, despite knowing the majority of the answers I was a bit nervous and also
anxious and it was not until I got the grades that I became relaxed once again. Thus, I would say
that the quiz was not only something new but also I enjoyed completing the same as well. In
addition to these, I would also say that the questions which were asked in the quiz were
connected with the concepts of Political Compass, libertarianism and authoritarianism and this in
turn made it easier for me to answer them. In this relation, I would say that these concepts are of

great interest to me and thus along with the class lectures I myself did a bit of research on the
internet related to these concepts before undertaking the quiz which actually helped me to get
good grade in the concerned assignment. As a matter of fact, the result or the grade which I
received at the end of the quiz reaffirmed my deep understanding of the concepts of Political
Compass, libertarianism and authoritarianism. These also confirmed the ideas related to the
concepts under discussion here that I held prior to attending the concerned quiz.
To conclude, the quiz which I had to undertake as part of Assignment 1 was a great
learning experience and also helped me to understand the extent to which I have effectively
understood the concepts of Political Compass, libertarianism and authoritarianism. More
importantly, this quiz was a new activity for me and thus I thoroughly enjoyed completing the
same and the results of the quiz also reaffirmed my knowledge or understanding of the concepts
under discussion here.
