The United States of America has been home to millions of immigrants over the years.
Immigration is the chief source of increasing population in the United States. The country has
more number of immigrants than any other country in the world. More than 40 million of the
population residing in the country today were born in another country. The population is so
diverse that they represent almost every country in the world. Most number of immigrants are
staying legally in the country while just a quarter of the population are unauthorized. In the year
2017, it was reported that 27% of the immigrant population were permanent residents while 5%
of them were temporary. 23% of the immigrants were unauthorized. U.S. has a large number of
African immigrants. These immigrants in the country are often mistreated and it is something
that must stop. They are treated inhumanely and it is a matter of concern as these are those
people who had fled their country because of violence, corruption and poverty that they had to
face in their country of birth. There are reports of ongoing mistreatment where thousands of
families are torn apart and are enduring horrible treatment from the government (Anderson). This
is an injustice because every human being irrespective of his or her race, gender, class, ethnicity,
religion or sexual orientation deserves the right to be treated fairly. They had to flee their country
because of the injustice they faced there, therefore, they deserve to be treated with respect and
kindness. They came to America to seek a better life for themselves; they deserve an equal
opportunity to seek citizenship in the country legally.
Black immigrants often face many difficulties in their lifetime and these only increases
when talking in the context of United States of America. U.S. is not a multilingual state. The
locals mistreat people from diverse backgrounds who cannot speak English. This makes it
difficult for them to find jobs, complete basic tasks like filling of forms, and buy food. In order
to solve this problem, the immigrants and the refugees take ESL classes that make it difficult for

them to manage their time between the jobs and families. The biggest problem that the
immigrants face is raising their children and help them succeed in their schools. Children often
are acclimatized to the new culture, that makes it difficult for the parents to raise their children
according to their cultures, and that changes the whole parent-child dynamics. Parents often get
reports of bullying and discrimination that their children face in the class due to their different
cultural background. The children who cannot speak English face grave problems and find in
difficult to keep up with the other children (Adjepong). The situation worsens when the parents
are unable to help them with their studies due to their incapability to communicate in English.
Another problem is securing of jobs. Getting a job in such a competitive market is extremely
difficult for the locals; it can only be imagines how difficult it must be for the refugees and the
immigrants. The employers in the U.S. prefer people with work experience and the certifications
from another countries usually do not get transferred. It is common to see taxi drivers in U.S.
with a degree in engineering. African-Americans have been fighting for their rights for a long
time. They face difficulties in the securing housing facilities as they usually have low paid jobs
(Adjepong). They fall to exploitation from their property owners. As they do not have any ideas
about the country’s laws, they fall prey to various scams. Unauthorized black immigrants face
huge problems of being deported to their birth country. This ultimately has an effect on their
health too as they refuse to go to the doctors for their health checkup and do not even get access
to any kind of legal guidance. They are exposed to violence, rape, and they find problems in
seeking help. There are cultural barriers between the immigrants and the local people and they
are bullied because of it. The native black Africans who come to America in search for a job and
better living conditions get mistreated in all of the above matters.

This is an injustice towards them because no human being deserves to be treated the way
they are being treated for being different from the white people. They are discriminated against
because of their black skin. Many white people residing in America think themselves to be
superior to the black people because of their black skin. They are not given jobs as the white
people see them as a threat towards them and deny any privilege to them. The locals in
restaurants, in public spaces, mistreat them, the police misbehave with them. Many incidents
have been reported where it has been seen that the locals threaten the black people and demand
them to speak in English. This is disrespectful to them and their culture. The black people
therefore have reasonable demands to be treated fairly by everyone in the country (George and
Chrystal). They contribute to the economy as anyone else. They want proper representation in
every aspect of the American life be it political, economic or cultural. They do deserve to be
treated with kindness and respect as every human being is the same when seen beyond the
barriers of skin color and culture.
This kind of injustice that the black Americans face is largely due to the white
supremacists in the country. The political power of the country has now been against diverse
representation of different cultural societies. The injustice was created as a result of the new
legislation policies of the government. The people new legislative policies threaten to tear apart
the families and it imposes restrictions of the influx of the immigrants from other countries. The
children are separated from their families (Anderson). There are reports of the construction of a
“wall” between the borders of Mexico and the U.S. this kind of injustice is caused due to the
prejudices against the black people that the white people still have in their minds. The history of
the black salvory still haunts a lot of people and the minds of these are still hurt with the dark
memories. The government feels that stopping the immigrants from entering into their countries

would make it easier for the locals to get jobs as the foreigners would not steal their jobs
anymore (Wafula et al.). The integrity of the country would remain pure as it would not affected
or diluted by the foreign cultures. The main injustice is caused by the policies that the
government takes against them. It makes it difficult for them to get jobs in the country,
participate in any political activity or get any proper political representation. Their children do
not get admission in the schools of their choice and are mistreated due to the policies that the
government imposes on them. There is an economic and political benefit for the government in
imposing of such discriminatory laws against them (Hamilton and Tod). To gain the support of
the majority of the white population in the country, the government often tries to impose such
policies on the people. The people in power would get the vote of the locals if they involve and
bring in such policies that keeps in mind the interests of the local residents of the country.
A social movement referred to as ADOS fights against the injustice of black immigrants
in the country. The full form of the association is the American Descendants of Slavery. It was
cofounded in 2016 that fights against the injustice faced by the black people in realms of political
and social context (Lee, Jennifer, et al). They have formed many policies that fight for the rights
of many black immigrants in the country. According to the reports, the policies undertaken by
the organisation have showed that many black immigrants are better educated than the black
Americans in the country are. Their tactics d fight injustice to make a difference in the lives of
the people. The enslaved Africans have not forgotten their roots and they keep on remembering
the atrocities that they faced in their birth country and the country where they took refuge in. the
slavery system is still built in the minds of the people. Therefore, many free organisations as the
Free African Society, the African Methodist Episcopal Church are working towards the benefit
of the black immigrants. There is also the recognition of the black history month wherein the

discrimination that the immigrants face in the country are remembered. It is important to realize
that the black lives matter and that everything should be done in favor to give them respect and
treat them with kindness.
