I feel the political parties are getting weaker with each day. Both the Democratic and
Republican Party has leaders who have not demonstrated any intention to work towards the
betterment of the common people. States are coming up with laws, which allow voters to cast
ballots in the party primaries despite knowing they do not belong to that party. Some self-
professed independence have now grown up in numbers and even outnumber the voters who
register as either Republican or democratic full stop will Rogers stated in 1935, “I am not a
member of an organized political party. I am a democrat”. This statement makes sense when we
look at the present situation as both republicans and democrats have proven to be unorganized
parties. One of the primary causes of the weakness in the political parties today especially at the
national level is the absence of any reform to eliminate corruption.
Hi Kyle
Although I feel that you have a strong point, I would disagree with your argument. The
reason I put forth is that political parties are now able to garner support through the social media
and other platforms. However, when looked from the perspective of dominating the political
scene the parties have lost their credibility.
Hi Keyanda
I completely agree with the point you made about the political parties. I might add that
the political parties have weekend because of the change in the primary election process. During
the early 1970s, presidential candidates were chosen at National conventions but now the system
has changed.
