AI Summary
This political science assignment delves into the methodologies employed by political scientists to establish and predict occurrences. It outlines the process of data collection, analysis, and manipulation to identify statistically supported patterns and generalizations, ultimately leading to the development of theories. The assignment highlights the complexities inherent in political science, which stem from its focus on political behaviors, public policies, and governmental structures. It references McNabb's general steps for data utilization, from stating research objectives and formulating hypotheses with independent and dependent variables, to data collection, computer-based analysis, and hypothesis testing. Furthermore, the assignment acknowledges the interconnected nature of political issues and the importance of peer consultation in refining research findings, emphasizing the intricate nature of political analysis.

Political Science
Political scientists undertake different studies in order to establish and predict the
occurrences. The data is collected, analysed and manipulated in order to bring forth the
statistically supported patterns and generalization. Where such patterns and generalization
becomes a commonality, or where the frequency of these is increased, the political scientists at
such point can develop a theory (Quizlet, 2017). Though, this is not as simple as it may sound.
The field of political science is inked with the political behaviours, public policies and
governments. Thus, there is a heavy reliance over the opinions for developing the relationships.
Owing to these features, the data collection and the manipulation approach becomes unique in
political science.
For the purpose of showing the manner in which the political scientists make use of the
data for validating their hypothesis, the general steps presented by McNabb (2004) proves to be
of help. As per McNabb, the objectives of the research are the determining factors on which the
data is collected and made use of. Once the goal is stated, the statement of hypothesis is created.
This hypothesis has two different variables, i.e., independent and dependent variables. The latter
are such occurrences which get influenced by the former. Thus, through the data collection and
the approach of manipulation, the objectives and the hypothesis are determined. Once the data is
collected, the computer softwares analyse the relationship. Upon the analysis of data, reference is
made to null/ alternate hypothesis, which is then accepted or rejected. Though, the political
environment affects a number of interrelated issues. Thus, there is a continued consultation by
the scientists with their co-mates for identifying the loopholes in the results. These discussions
point to new areas which can be researched upon. Thus, the political analysis remains
complicated due to the study of forces which are interconnected.
