General election refers to the event held to elect the state and the federal officer, county
and the township officer and many others officers provided by law. This is conducted to
determine the public measures of the city and county level. To apply for the general election
there are certain criteria that are addressed, first the candidate should be United States citizen
along with the resident of that particular district where he or she is applying and at least 18 years
of age. There are of measures that would deny the candidate from entering, this includes being a
convicted felon, being judged incompetent in the right to vote in any other election and the order
to vote by a court.
The two major political parties in the country include the Republicans and the Democrats.
Not mentioning in which party I belong to, I will state that being given the responsibility of a
total reform in the system in which the political parties choose their candidate. There are various
factions and ideologies within the different political parties in the United States. There are a wide
variety of candidates who can be possibly be nominated for elections. The reformation is needed
in the way candidates are selected within the party in order to ensure that the party has the best
candidate standing for the election. The various considerations to be made in this regard are
whether the candidate suitable for being the face of the party because of the ideology he or she
has, whether their views are in conformity with the party’s, whether the person has a clean image
and is enthusiastic enough to be a part of the developmental process of the country. The
reformation can be included in the process of the primary selection of the candidate. I will ensure
that before each election the candidates who are willing to participate in the process go through a
detailed training process about the ideology of the party, its history and its stand on various
issues. Then the candidate has to go through a test or examination about the various things taught
during the training program which will finally decide whether they are fit in the position or not.

There are two certificates that helps in identifying the plan, the Political Party Convention
Certificate and NPPO Convention Certificate. The first method allows a political party to create
nominations at the main election of the person draws back and the second methods allow
candidates to run for partisan office in the general election. There are some elements that these
two convention certificates follow, that include the name of the NPPO, the names of the
candidates who were initially nominated, the name of the offices sought and the district/ward, the
candidate’s home address, the NPPO’s name and addresses. However, it should be noted that a
candidate after nomination cannot run for more than one office. When the candidate nominates
the papers for more than one time then he or she would file an affidavit before their last day. This
would provide the fact that if the affidavit is not filled, then their name cannot appear in the
ballot of any offices.
