In an article, published in September 2019 the issues have been noted upon the
nomination of Steven J. Menashi a white house lawyer to assist on the cport of United States
of Appeal for the Second Circuit.
President “Trump reached a landmark to refurbish the judiciary with conventional
judges. The Senate Judiciary Committee scheduled voting for the appeals court. Maximum
votes were on Steven J. Menashi to serve the Second Circuit Court of Appeals situated in
New York and Hali Suleyman as a federal judge for the Fifth Circuit Court. However, the
process was delayed (Nytimes.com). They received ratings by the American bar association,
but few republicans and democrats had raised concern about the writings of Mr Menashi
related to the women and issues of L.G.B.T.Q. Senator Susan Collins, Republican of Maine
opposed the confirmation of Mr Menashi. Some other Republicans have stated the
inefficiency of Justice Ozerden who was elected to the federal district court by President
George W. Bush. Ms Collins had further questioned the capacity of a former law clerk to be
appointed in such Court of Appeals. Mr Menashi submitted more than 1000 pages to the
Senate Judiciary Committee expressing his remorse regarding such writings. Nevertheless,
there was no response from the White House regarding the regret letters.”
However, Mr Menasha’s nomination was confirmed by the council. Many democrats
and republicans questioned the functioning of Trump’s administration. All the nominees were
considered as well qualified except Sarah E. Pitlyk who deemed unqualified based upon the
lack of experience. One hundred fifty-seven judicial appointments were made by Trump that
was in par with George Bush’s administration.
