1POPULATION HEALTH CARE NURSING
Article 1 by Kellermann (2002)
Introduction
Population centered health is described by the world health organization as the umbrella
term under which all aspect of healthcare is considered across all healthcare systems. Hence, it is
easy to understand that using these guidelines and policies, contribution to local as well as global
healthcare is achievable (Schiller, Lucas & Peregoy, 2012). Besides this, majority of the
population do not have any health coverage and due to this they are unable to get quality
healthcare for their ailments (Ward et al., 2013). Therefore, the aim of this section is to review
article by Kellermann (2002) regarding the health coverage in USA.
Review
Health insurance is one of the crucial aspects of healthcare system as using these, people
can avail quality healthcare service whenever needed. Moreover, it provides them with financial
aid so that their socio-economic status does not become a barrier in receiving such care. The first
article by Kellermann (2002) included in the study discusses about availability of health
insurance among Americans. This is an important information as the Census Bureau of the USA
determines that the rate of uninsured people has only been decreased by 0.3 from 2015 to 2017
and therefore most of the people in USA are not been able to get quality healthcare for their
benefit. The article discussed several myths and truths about the health insurance system of USA
and mentions that private health insurance are much more accepted than the governmental health
insurance system in USA (Kellermann, 2002). For example, people think that without any health
insurance, they can get the quality healthcare whenever they need however, the study revealed
that if the people are not insured, they are not been able to visit healthcare facilities. On the other

hand, the study also revealed that the age group 19 to 34 are among the uninsured population as
they are new in their workplace and such workplaces do not provide health coverage to these
fresh employees (Millett et al., 2012). Moreover, only 4% of this age group is insured under
governmental or private healthcare system. Further, the article also provided the reason that
influences people to be uninsured and the primary reason or influence was their type of job
(Cawley, Moriya & Simon, 2015). Studies revealed that most of the people uninsured used to
work in smaller startup organizations that did not provided them with health coverage. Besides
them most of them were not having any fulltime jobs or full year employment that affected their
chances to obtain health insurance.
Summary
While concluding it should be mentioned that both the articles reviewed in this
assessment had their importance for the students as the knowledge present in these papers are
important for a successful healthcare profession. The article by Kellermann (2002) successfully
provided the truths and facts about the state of healthcare insurance in USA and mentioned the
barriers due to which people are unable to receive such insurance.

and public health care respectively. Further, while reviewing the advantages and benefits of the
articles for other students will be recommended. Finally, in the conclusion section a brief
summary of the articles with overall evaluation will be provided in the assignment.
Review
This article by Fielding and Teutsch (2009) mentioned the need of clinical treatment with
that of the public health treatments as combining these two would be helpful in achieving
healthcare goals easily and rapidly. While describing these, the researchers mentioned the guide,
achievability of the guideline and the gaps present in achieving them. It is an important aspect
and a proper knowledge of this aspect will help the students to understand the need of integrating
two care services for the betterment of the population (Fielding & Teutsch, 2009). Further the
knowledge of gaps such as disparity on providing healthcare, concern about acceptability of the
interventions, lack of translational research data and evidences will help them to understand the
extent of application of these care process (Ward et al., 2013).
Summary
While concluding this article, it should be mentioned that this article reviewed in this
assessment holds major importance for the students. The article by Fielding and Teutsch, (2009)
mentioned the need of combining clinical care with public healthcare system so that quality and
focus of the healthcare system could be increased for public healthcare domain. Therefore, both
the ideas were new to learn and hence, it was important to know about such aspects within the
