Introduction
There is about the engineering project which has a different project but here the project is
about managing the project. There is one construction company which want to have the
measurements for the mountain, land, etc. they want to measure the height, width, length, etc.
The project of the engineering is not as such different they are similar to the management of
the project like in this also there is planning, requirements, designing, implementation,
testing, etc has to be done. Here the report is of the project that according to the sceneries
which type of project is up to mark and what are the advantages and disadvantages are there
of the project which has been selected. The project consists of the log book which will help to
see the scheduling of the project and also they find the project to be good enough. There are
many attempts have been done in order to have the proper functioning of the project. This
device is the portable device which will help the person to take it anywhere for the
measurements. There is the presentation made which explain about the project which will
help the learner to grab more about the project.

LO1: Formulate and plan a project that will provide a solution to an
identified engineering problem
P1: Select an appropriate engineering based project, giving reasons for the
selection.
Here in this, there is Construction Company who demands such a project who will help them
to get the measurements of different areas such as the Mountain and etc. They want one
device which will help the person to have the appropriate measurements. The device should
be portable so therefore the project which I have chosen is the Portable Topometric Station.
This is the best because this consists of the very small devices which are easy to handle and
will help the person to have the appropriate measurements. This device will have functions
such as angle, distance, height and area of the building, lands to measure them. This consists
of the screen which is LCD which works on the real-time and has fewer seconds to calculate
all things. There is an option to change the units of the measurements that are inches, cm, m,
etc. This design is best because this is portable and easy to handle even one man can take it.
This will help to reduce the cost as there is no need to hire the two engineers so this will
provide the benefit to the company. There is a one-time investment for the device and then
there is just the maintenance which is low in cost. There are several tires done b before the
launching of the device or shown to the customers. All type of platforms is used for the test to
check the device. (Kapur, R. and Sodhi, B., 2019).
The design was made with the different sensors so that they can sense all types of things
which they want. There is the use of LCD which is Liquid Crystal Display which displays the
range of the device. There is a systemic circuit design which might fails sometimes.
There is a number of attempt made to make the best device. Like in the first attempt there
was the distance taken which have the rocking sensor but the software was not working then
one solution was found in that there is about the interconnection between the modules and all
(Morariu, 2019).

P2 Create a project plan for the engineering project.
The process of the project is based on the cycle which is the software development cycle
which will help the person to follow the steps in a good way to get the best project of the
software. There is the universal process for the project and this phase helps to have the best
project if the steps are followed in the correct order. The process consists of 7 phases which
are named as requirements of the project, planning for the project, design for the project,
implementation of the project, testing, maintenance, and deployment (Kapur, R. and Sodhi,
B., 2019).
ï‚· Requirements of the project: All the resources, data, etc have to be collected before
the project is made. So here in this project also there is a various number of
requirements are present to build the project and this will be done. Not only resources
are collect also there is a collection of basic knowledge of the project to start. Here in
this like they need to have the sensors which are of different types, they need to have
the motherboards or other boars for controlling the device. In this phase, only all the
things have been done clear such as cost or budget of the project because there is a
need to work in the budget only not to exceed the budget. So in this phase, there is to

focus on the proper requirements as well as the cost of the resource which are taking
in the form of requirements.
ï‚· Planning: The planning of the project is the must it does not for the engineering
projects only but also for all type of project. The planning has to be done of the
project with the manager and the project members. There is an allocation of the
resource, teams, etc. The planning has to be strong so that there are fewer chances of
getting the risk in the project. The planning has to be done wisely because the whole
project follows the planning.
ï‚· Designing the project: The project is designed with the demand of the client. And
this will be kind of prototype which can be shown to the client for the approval of the
design. And if there are any changes needed then the designer can change there only
because once the implementation goes on then it is difficult to change the code or
circuit systems. So it’s better to have an approval in this phase only.
ï‚· Implementation of the project: The project has been implemented with the
resources which are used in projects. The project can be implemented by using the
sensors, boards, etc. they can be interconnected and can easily work over it for
implementation.
ï‚· Testing: The implementation is done and there is a phase to which there is checking
for the implementation that it is done right or there are any errors or so. For this, there
is a need to have the testing to which there is a different kind of testing is done. There
is white testing, unit testing, integration testing, etc.
ï‚· Maintenance: There is a need to do the maintenance which has to make the software
updated and then there is a need to have low maintenance which can be affordable for
the company. There is a need for maintenance as there is a release of new versions of
the technology, therefore there is a need to have the maintenance.
ï‚· Deployment: There is need to have the launching of the project of the software or
device which has to be done with the proper testing and this will help the person to
have the proper launching or the software in the market (Morariu, 2019).
Sustainability of the project
The project needs to be sustainable le that means the project use the minimal number of
resources which are used and also the project has to be feasible. The sustainably is to the
ability which maintains the functionality of the project. There should be fewer resources used
so that means only the resources which are used should be present no unnecessary resources
