INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are defined as an individual’s ability, habits as well as strategies that help
them to gain success in academics. Academic skills improve students’ confidence level and
encourage them to become more efficient learner. There are various academic skills such as time,
management, technical skills, critical thinking that help to perform academic work properly.
This portfolio covers evidence of IT skill development, SWOT analysis and reflection on
learning and development that learnt through self-evaluation.
TASK
Evidence of academic and IT skill development
IT skill development: Information technology skill is defined as the hard and technical
skill that is used in operating as well as manipulating technology. It is related to devices such as
computers, tablets, mobile phone and other digital technologies (Adriaensen, Bijsmans, and
Groen, 2019). It is one of important IT skill that I have learned during the assignment. I have
developed various areas in IT sector such as security, programming, data analysis, cloud
computing, system and network that helped me to perform academic work in systematic manner.
Along with that, I have enhanced knowledge and understanding of computer hardware and
software, internet application and operating system that enables me to complete my IT
assignment on time with efficiency.
SWOT analysis
SWOT analysis: SWOT analysis is defined as the strategic management technique that is
used by me to identify my own strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. I have
developed planning and strategies to improve my weak areas.

Reflection on the development and learning that encountered through self-evaluation
I have conducted SWOT analysis for evaluating my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities
and threats that impact my work in positive as well as negative manner. Through my self-
evaluation, I have realised that there are skills, capabilities and competencies that are learned by
me during the academic session that are related to my personal and professional growth and
development. There are various projects and assignments are allotted to me with various other
members that improve the skill of leadership and teamwork (Bandaranaike, 2018). I have taken
initiative teamwork to allocate work among all team members according to their skills, interest
and professional are so they can perform it properly as well as I have led team to attain
determined goals and objectives. I have taken online courses and communicate with my
classmates and teachers on regular bases. I am good in both oral and written communication that
help me to convey my ideas, opinions and thoughts to others in understandable manner (Ebil,
Salleh, and Shahrill, 2020). I have learnt various personal and professional skills that enables me
to perform my personal and academic work on time with greater efficiency and effectiveness.
I have developed appropriate schedule and time table for the purpose of managing my
efforts and work according to time that enables me to complete my work on determined time
period. In my academic sessions, I have finished my projects and assignments on time that
helped me to gain higher grades in academics. I took decisions according to situation and
circumstance that helps me to perform with specific task in best possible manner. In critical
situation, I have identified various alternatives and select best one among them to handle the

situation properly. I took various personality development classes that improved various skills
and attributes in my personality and helped me to perform my operations in appropriate manner
(Lam, 2018). I have improved my personality in that way that will help me to gain desirable job
and help me in my professional life as well. In my academic sessions, I have developed
information technology skill that helps me to work on devices such as computer, laptop and
other. Project management skill that is learnt by me during preparing assignments and projects. I
have allotted assignment work in various parts than perform them in specific time-period. There
are various problems are raised during performing project in group that can impacts overall
performance and efficiency so I have taken action against these problems through identifying
their root cause and resolve the problems by finding suitable course of action.
I have analysed various weak skills in personality that create negative impact on my personality
so I conduct in-depth analysis of that skills and developed an action plan for improving those
skills in order to attaining personal and professional goals and objectives. I have taken regular
feedback on my performance from teachers, tutors and colleagues that help me to conduct my
self-analysis as well as preparing future action plan. I concentrated on performing my work in
most creative and innovative manner that differentiate it from others and prestige me to gain
higher marks than others (McCardle, Young, and Baker, 2019). Thus, I have learnt various skills
and competencies from through conducting my self-evaluation that plays important role in my
overall development.
CONCLUSION
As per the above report, it can be concluded that skills are defined as the abilities and
competencies of an individual that enables them to perform defined operations with efficiency
and effectiveness. In academic career, students learn various skills that helps them in their
personal and professional career and leads towards development.
