INTRODUCTION
E-portfolio refers to an appropriate manner in which individuals provide a detailed
account of what they have learnt within their universities, as well as their modules (Davidson,
2017). It allows them to reflect upon their current competencies and skills, along with aspects
which are required to be improved to ensure future developments. Hence, in this context, below
is an analysis of 12 documents that were part of this portfolio.
DOCUMENTS
Reflective Learning
Reflective learning was one of the most important activities that required individuals to
reflect upon their past experiences in relation to determine the positive and negative aspects
associated with the same (Soulé and Warrick, 2015). Moreover, this task also needed us to
develop an action plan to ensure improvement in our skills and competencies to ensure success
and effective growth within the future projects. Hence, in this relation, I learnt that there are
skills such as communication and teamwork which I possess and use effectively. However,
competencies such as time and conflict management are yet to be improved for effectiveness in
future prospects. Thus, this activity helped me in describing my strengths, as well as weaknesses
which provided me a proper insight onto my skills.
Mogadishu
A 500-word assignment was required to be appropriately and effectively completed by
me in context of Mogadishu, which is the capital of Somalia. It needed an appropriate analysis of
the city, along with evaluation of its current situation. It was an enriching activity, which
required application of research skills and effective evaluation of several factors related to the
city and its current situation. This essay was contributing in relation to enhance my academic
writing and research skills, that are necessary to appropriately ensure succeeding in higher level
of study. Additionally, this essay also allowed me to research and explore several aspects
associated with the city and present them effectively in a collective manner.

Research Skills
Within any graduation course, research constitutes one of the major aspects for growth
and competency enhancement within individuals. This activity was adopted by me throughout
the course and on several occasions, which required me to research about different aspects that
were associated with my course. Hence, there are several things which I appropriately learned by
using these skills. For instance, I learnt how to perform a professional research, its relevant
types, as well as methods through which research could be conducted. Moreover, differentiation
between distinct forms of research was also explored by me.
Mind Mapping
Another prominent activity within the course was mind mapping, which is one of the
effective methods related to note taking (Amabile and Pratt, 2016). It allows individuals to
appropriately and effectively gather the ideas and connect the same with a centralised theme.
Through this task, I realised there are interactive methods like Mind Mapping which could be
used to display the ideas and concepts and could be used for later references in terms of
clarifying the concepts again. Furthermore, I learnt that this method could also be utilised in
relation to breaking down several complex and difficult activities to enhance their understanding.
Additionally, its usage has also been very much contributing in relation to highlighting how
ideas could be displayed in a more organised manner, which could be referred within future
studies as well as within the professional working standards.
Referencing and Plagiarism
One of the most crucial aspects within the overall course was associated with referencing
and plagiarism. While the former is associated with effective referencing of authors and scholars

within the main task, the latter is related to avoidance of any sort of plagiarised content within
the overall activity, which contributes in enhancement of the professional and academic
effectiveness of the work (Alismail and McGuire, 2015). Thus, the activity in this perspective
allowed me to enhance the skills related to identify different and relevant resources which are
necessary to be referenced in order to increase the authenticity of my work. In relation to
plagiarism, this task enabled me to learn how to write my work in a way that it does not get
unintentionally penalised.
Sentence Construction
Sentence construction is necessary for these studies as it allows in an effective framing
and structuring of the sentence to ensure professionalism and relevance to the aspect that is being
communicated. Through this activity, I realised that perceptions are important to be similar to
provide the content in an non-ambiguous manner. Moreover, I learnt different norms and rules
regarding sentence framing to avoid any sort of errors that could possibly arise while writing.
Moreover, I realised that unnecessary additions are not necessary to explain the meaning of
sentences and the same could be done using precise and concise application of sentences, which
would help in explaining a concept in few words that is academically very sound.
Using Capital Letters
A professional way of presenting reports is to effectively use capital letters at relevant
and right places (Starko, 2017). Hence, in this relation, handouts were provided to us to
understand the use of capital letters and apply the same within our sentences. It has been very
contributing and an effective piece of work as it helped me realise the scope of mistakes that
could arise when a person prepares a report. The handout also gave me an insight onto the
application of capital letters in terms of aspects like proper nouns, crucial phenomenon and so
forth.

relation to understanding different concepts lately. Hence, for this purpose, analysis of an essay
was required as an activity. It allowed me to improve my concepts, enhance my reading speed, as
well as appropriately and effectively enhance my perceptions in relation to what was being
communicated within the essay.
Presentation Skills
Within higher studies, as well as future professional careers, presentation skills are very
important to be possessed by an individual which is necessary to develop as well as present the
same within a group of individuals (Yakhina and et. al., 2016). For this purpose, a presentation
was developed by me which allowed me to learn the dynamics of using Microsoft tools, along
with aspects that are necessary to develop a presentation. In addition to this, I also learnt how to
deliver a presentation and the use of gestures, as well as body language to communicate the
content to my class mates. Moreover, I learnt what is visual aids and their usage in order to
ensure maximum impact upon the spectators in understanding the presentation.
Critical Thinking
Critical thinking refers to an overall 360-degree evaluation of a concept, individual or
organisation, which allows in being critical about the positive and negative elements associated
within the same (Siemens, Gašević and Dawson, 2015). For this purpose, a piece of information
was provided to me that was subjected towards critically make crucial choice about different
spectrum associated with the information. Hence, this activity was very contributing to make me

research and evaluate the information critically and subject my decisions and arguments in a
valid manner to provide a detailed overview of the content that was presented to me.
Academic Keywords
These are the keywords that are required to be accurately understood in order to ensure
correction within the answers provided within the report. Furthermore, there could be severe
consequences if these keywords are not presented effectively. Hence, this activity enabled me to
work my way through several essential keywords that are relevant to the module, as well as my
degree. Moreover, it also allowed me to explore the meaning behind these key words so that I
could better understand the same and answer questions within my future modules effectively.
What is the Tense
Tenses are the aspects that help in denoting the time when the event has taken place. It is
very crucial to be understood in order to develop a deeper sense related to the English Language
(Beghetto, 2016). Moreover, within academic writing, tenses are very important and has guided
me towards being clear in presenting my information to the readers. Moreover, in this case as
well, a worksheet has been provided to me to discover the use of tense in an effective manner.
Furthermore, this activity is also very much supporting in allowing me to realise my
ineffectiveness within the use of tenses. However, performing this worksheet came out to be very
advantageous to me as I understood the use of tenses, as well as apply the same within my
assignments in an effective manner. In addition, it also helped me in enhance my competence
within the use of language.
