Introduction
POS system is a point of sale where consumers pay for the goods they have already
picked. Once customers have done their shopping, they pass through the cashiers for payments of
collected products. A complete POS system constitutes a computer, credit cards, receipt printer,
barcode scanner, the drawer for keeping cash and POS software. In-depth analysis, the
discussion below explains the importance of a POS system in businesses for easy supervision,
management of workers and also for future decision-making purposes (Scotto, Battle, Evnin,
Danielson, & Adams, 2015).
Benefits of using a POS system
One of the benefits of POS system is the sales reports. The system keeps on updating the
owner about the overview of the business. It gives the record of the industry, its financial, sale
and inventory status of the market. The system helps in keeping private and confidential
information about the business, and such information is used for future decision-making
purposes (Sendelbach et al, 2017).
The system helps in identifying the most and least profitable goods and services in the
business. Such identifications would help in knowing the fast-moving commodities and therefore
rely much on them at the expense of buying the slow-moving products. The system will also
assist in adapting with the customer's behavior of buying (Scotto, Battle, Evnin, Danielson, &
Adams, 2015).

The POS system saves time in calculating the amount of stock left in the business. The
management doesn’t have to employ an attendant to do such calculations manually. The system
displays the inventory of the stock issued and that of the sales. It also makes the work of the
employees easy in making elaborations of the products to the clients in the business.
The system reduces the mistakes that are associated with changes in prices of some
commodities in the business. POS system updates the whole system whenever there are price
variations. It ensures the quantity of products is always at par with the customer's awareness to
avoid dissatisfying the clients.
The POS system also helps in creating a performance loyalty program between the owner
of the business and the clients. It helps in understanding the preferred commodities for all of
your customers in that particular business. Such information is used when giving offers and
promotion of certain products (Matotek & Barnham, 2016).
The system helps in managing the employees of every business. It helps the owner in
knowing the best performing employees, and he/she may reward them through performance
appraisals. Eventually, the workers may get motivated in their work hence good returns for the
business.
Conclusion
It is evident that the POS system is very vital in keeping records which are used for future
decision-making processes. It helps in managing the workers and also in showing the financial
and inventory status of the business. Such systems as Micro and Squirrel have helped the retail
companies in their day to day operations eventually realizing good returns. The system also helps
