Department of Electrical Engineering Power Saving Project

This project, conducted by students from the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at the Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi, focuses on creating an automatic switching system to reduce energy consumption in modern homes. The system utilizes various sensors, including motion sensors, current sensors, light intensity sensors, temperature sensors, and humidity sensors, to monitor and control home appliances such as lights, TVs, and AC units. The primary goal is to minimize power wastage caused by devices left on unnecessarily. The project addresses the growing concern of energy consumption and aims to provide a practical solution for saving power, considering factors like cost-effectiveness and efficiency. The design includes a circuit incorporating these sensors, and the project highlights the importance of energy conservation for both environmental and economic reasons. The students also reviewed existing literature on energy-saving technologies, emphasizing the need for intelligent systems to reduce manpower and improve overall power efficiency. The project aims to provide a cost-effective and efficient solution to reduce energy consumption.
