INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development of an individual is crucial to enhance his/her
working efficiencies. It is good for lifelong learning and encouraging employees for better work
performance. Present report is based on understanding significance of personal and professional
development for staff of Hilton Young hotel. It provides food and hospitality services to a
million of people worldwide. In this regard, personal and professional plan is to be discussed as
analysing own performance and working for its improvement. Including this, several approaches
for self-managed learning will be introduced in this assignment. Along with this, work based
problems occurred in the entity as well methods to overcome them will be described. However,
time management approaches in various situations for managing staff performance is to be
understood in this report.
TASK 1

A) (1.1) Approaches of self-managed learning
Self-managed learning is a process in which individuals manage their own learning also
impacted on their performance. It remains effective for his/her personal and professional
development as well motivating for continuous development (Skaperdas and et.al., 2014).
However, different approaches are used for managing own learning within Hilton hotel, some of
them can be discussed as below:ď‚· Conducting seminars and conferences: It is one of the effective method to manage self-
learning of an individual. In accordance to this, people share their ideas and experiences
regarding attending personal and professional development programs (Singh, 2015).
However, various ideas are generated for encouraging participants to attend the seminars.
It impacts on personal and professional development of hotel's staff positively and also
encourages for lifelong learning.ď‚· Social networks: For managing self-learning of staff members of the hotel, social
networking sites can be used such as: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc. In this regard,
variety of ideas are generated to improve working style and team building to meet entity's
goals (Lewis and et.al., 2015). However, it is helpful for improving communication

among staff members and encouraging them towards better understanding supporting
group as well.
ď‚· Using internet: It is an appropriate self-managing approach impacted on personal and
professional development of an individual (Davies, Gray and Butcher, 2014). However,
different ways are identified for better performance and improving working style of the
hotel's staff members. Including this, it is beneficial for maintaining workers' interest and
continuous learning in the future time as well.
A) (1.2) Influence lifelong learning in encouraging personal and professional life of hotel's staff
members
Lifelong learning is a process of maintaining and sustaining an individual's interest
towards continuous learning. It impacts on their personal and professional development
increasingly (Ay, Pabinger and Cohen, 2017). However, Hilton hotel gives emphasis on lifelong
learning for its staff members whose positive impacts can be identified as follows:ď‚· Personal and professional development: Workers get encouraged towards learning new
techniques and implementing creativity in their performance. It influences their working
efficiencies and lifestyles positively (Megginson and Whitaker, 2017). For instance:
communication, problem solving and other skills get increased at higher level also linked
with Hilton hotel's effectiveness efficiently.
ď‚· Continuous learning and developing skills: Lifelong learning remains beneficial for
grabbing opportunities towards better performance of an individual. Including this, it is
suitable for developing hotel staff's skills at maximum level (Chamblee and et.al., 2015).
Therefore, learners learn variety of skills and unique ways to perform better and gaining
effective corporation in achieving entity's effectiveness.
B) (1.3) Benefits of self-managed learning
It is recognised that self-managed learning works for improving an individual's skills and
encouraging them towards better performance. In this regard, personal and professional
development of staff members of Hilton hotel is obtained (Goetsch and Davis, 2014). However,

motivated for learning new technologies and performing better which influences their personal
and professional development at higher level. Likewise, participating in training and
development programs as well watching online videos enhances worker's knowledge and
working styles on large scale. However, Hilton hotel workers use all these approaches for
managing and improving their skills at maximum level impacted on personal and professional
development for longer time period.
D1) (1.B) Critical evaluation on significance of self-managed learning (Ideas with justification)
Self-managed learning is benefited for personal and professional development of staff
members of Hilton hotel (Evetts, 2013). However, it is effective to motivate an individual
towards good coordination in team building and gaining entity's effectiveness. Including this, it

is suitable for increasing working and learning attitude of an individual for working on
improving skills. On critical evaluation, it is identified that wrong self-assessment of an
individual's performance and working styles affect performance and environment of the entity
adversely. Likewise, considering each individual's performance and encouraging him/her for
contribution in team remain challenging tasks. It is essential to work on overcoming this critical
evaluation and encouraging workers towards better performance. For this purpose, conducting
meeting with staff members and gaining their satisfaction level with performance will be
effective for the entity.

It is a process of self assessment in which own individual's skills and performance is
analysed. However, strength and weakness of the worker is identified which can be work for

On critical evaluation of my skills and working style, it is observed that I need to work on
solving the matters occurred among staff members of the Hilton Young hotel. However, my
listening skills are poor as I suggest workers on behalf of less observation. Including this, I am
bad in observing workers' performance and quality skills and solving out the issues. It impacts on
entity's performance adversely. Similarly, lack of coordination is identified among staff members
of the entity. In addition to this, I get hesitate during decision making and coordinating with
other functional departments' manager of the entity. It affects my professionalism and confidence
badly as required to work on. Along with this, it is observed that my poor performance in
listening towards staff's issues affect hotel's environment and less satisfaction of them with its
management. Therefore, it is needed for me work on reducing these issues and improving my
skills. It will be effective for developing my personality and professionalism for the further
years.
B) (2.3) Opportunities to develop skills
It is essential to overcome identified weakness in my performance as HR manager of the
Hilton hotel. Therefore, my personal and professional development can be enhanced effectively
impacts on dealing with problems and managing workers' performance as well. However, I can
grab below mentioned opportunities to develop my skills and professionalism as:ď‚· Watching online videos: It will be appropriate for me to watch online videos on
YouTube and other development programs. Besides this, I can learn various techniques to
manage workers' performance and encouraging them towards better performance in team.
However, it will be good for me to take fair decisions and handling issues occurred
within Hilton hotel.
ď‚· Attending seminars and development programs: Through attending development
programs and getting variety of ideas for improving skills will be effective for me to
develop personality and professionalism as well. In this regard, I can learn different

Including this, different ideas are generated to overcome weaknesses and improving. It impacts
on my personality and professionalism. Therefore, by grabbing different opportunities to work
on reducing weaknesses, I get several positive changes in my performance effectively.

Personal and professional development plan is prepared regarding improving my skills
and performing better than HR manager of the Hilton hotel. In this regard, a systematic plan is
created for reducing weaknesses and grabbing unique techniques to manage personnels'
management of the entity. In addition to this, by implementing development plan, I get different
positive changes in my performance and dealing with issues occurred in achieving entity's
effectiveness. However, I improved skills and better quality of performance in the entity for

As personal and professional development plan for working on reducing weaknesses as
listening skills and coordinating in decision making with other departments' managers of the
Hilton hotel (McGivern and et.al., 2015). I get different changes in my performance by grabbing
opportunities as reading articles and watching online videos. However, below mentioned ways
are followed on to implement development plan as:

ď‚· At first, critical evaluation on own skills as strength and weakness. Therefore, actual
performance and skills are assessed as required skills to be improved for personality
development and professionalism as well.
ď‚· Further, opportunities are grabbed for enhancing skills and working for effective

style as HR manager of the organisation which impacted on my personality as well.

On analysing skills and working efficiencies, I achieved several positive impacts in my
performance as coordinating with other managers for decision making regarding entity's
effectiveness. Including this, I learned to manage staff's performance more effectively which
impacted on entity's environment and corporation of workers with each other. On critical
evaluation, it is also identified that I should work on improving time management skills and
creating understanding with using HR specialist software. As I observed that I took much time in
decision making and accomplishing tasks in determined time. Therefore, it is essential for me to
work on this evaluation will be effective to increase learning and working attitude effectively.

On reviewing the development plan, it is analysed that all activities and tasks are fulfilled
in right time appropriately. Including this, expectations set during aim and objectives got

among workers of the hotel during team work and working for achieving goals together
(Ay, Pabinger and Cohen, 2017). Therefore, conflicts and disputes occurred among them
impacted on entity's performance negatively.

workers' interest towards working for Hilton hotel and encouraging them towards lifelong

It is concluded that personal and professional development of an individual is effective
for lifelong learning and maintaining interest towards goal accomplishment. In this regard, self
assessment on own skills as HR manager of Hilton hotel is identified critically. However,
