AI Summary
This report, submitted for PPMP20008, focuses on the application of a lessons-learned framework in project management. The student reflects on experiences within the course, identifying challenges such as team conflict, data storage issues, and difficulties with multiple tasks. The report details the student's approach to gathering, documenting, analyzing, storing, and retrieving lessons learned. It presents three key lessons: conflict due to communication gaps, issues with unsupportive team members, and the challenges of managing multiple tasks. For each lesson, the student describes the situation, the resulting feelings, and the key learning. Furthermore, the report proposes specific improvement strategies, including prioritizing conflict areas, separating disruptive team members, and implementing periodic monitoring with status reports. The report emphasizes the importance of these strategies and their relevance to the project's success, along with measurable outcomes and timelines for implementation. Finally, the conclusion highlights the value of the lessons-learned framework for project managers and the significance of addressing challenges through strategic improvements. The student has used references to support their learning and analysis.

PMMP 20008 – Initiating and Planning Projects Assignment 3
1. INTRODUCTION
Project management process is a progressive revolutionary approach used to control and
monitor any project and to make sure that it is running as per the expectation of the executives
and clients (Ghafoor et al., 2019). The reflective practice is applied by the team members of
different projects from their previous learning and experiences. Reflective learning process
helps the project team members to avoid future mistakes and make a project successful.
Reflective learning is helpful in professional growth and improvement.
Lesson learned practice can be defined as a theory that individual team members should apply
during real time implementation of any project (Chaves et al., 2016). These lessons can be
learnt from project management course sessions and previous experiences. There is no specific
time for learning therefore, it is continuous improvement practice.
The lesson learnt framework contains multi-genre situation those I have faced throughout my
PPMP20008 course session. I recognized that every time the situation will not deal in my fever
sometimes it may create challenges to me as well. The below sections demonstrates some of
those situational challenges I faced. In order to overcome those situations what respective
improvement strategies have been adopted and applied are illustrated in the contains of the
assignment.
2 LESSONS LEARNT:
2.1 Lessons learnt framework explained
A well organized lesson learnt framework helps a project supervisor or professional project
associate to manage any project even in complex situation. A lesson learnt framework is
comprises of five basic stages in terms of identification, documentation, analysis, storage and
retrieval (Martens & Carvalho, 2017). During the course of PPMP20008 at first the study
materials are collected and then those are respectively documented in details. During analysis I
have learnt about the different knowledge areas. I feel each of the knowledge area should be
maintained during real time project development life cycle to complete it in time and budget.
While I will be assigned in a project at first I have to understand the project aims, goals and
objectives. After that I will prepare the project scope statement based on the requirement
details. The project scope must be shared among the other members as well for future
awareness and maintenance. Then the project schedule, budget, resource, communication plan,
quality management strategies will be developed. These details are presented in the project
charter. Once, the project supervisor will approve the project charter the project will initiate.

3. LESSONS
3.1 Defining lessons learnt (or learned)
Lesson learnt is a knowledge gaining process or practice used during implementation and
execution of any project successfully however this documentation is done throughout the project
development life cycle period (Meredith, Mantel & Shafer, 2017).
3.2 Lesson 1
3.2.1 What I learnt from reflecting on the situation
1. Situation 2. The situation made me
feel…
3. What I learnt from
reflecting on the situation
Within PPMP20008 a
situation that I have faced is
conflict among the team
mates due to lack of
discussion and
communication gaps
(Micheel et al., 2018).
The situation made me feel
confused because I was
worried about if the conflict
affects the teamwork.
I have learnt that, in order to
overcome such problems
discussion or communication is
the only solution. It helps
growing internal bonding and
increases understanding among
different people.

3.3 Lesson 2: Dealing with conflict
3.3.1 What I learnt from reflecting on the situation
1. Situation (involving
conflict)
2. The situation made me
feel…
3. What I learnt from
reflecting on the situation
While storing data those have
collected from different
resources I have realized that
some of the team mates are
not supporting but
continuously interrupting in
our process (Taniguchi &
Onosato, 2018).
The situation made me feel
very angry, they were not
listening to me not the
supervisors as well.
I have learnt that, teamwork is
the best way to deal with any
complex situation easily.
3.3.2 Improvement Strategy Two: Dealing with conflict

3.4.1 What I learnt from reflecting on the situation
1. Situation (involving
multiple tasks)
2. The situation made me
feel…
3. What I learnt from
reflecting on the situation
I failed to conduct a
feasibility analysis paralelly
with resource and schedule
management accurately as a
result delay and overrunning
budget issues occurred.
The situation made me feel
frustrated because I was not
sure about whether I would be
able to complete the project
on time or not.
I have learnt that, iterative
monitoring and control is
essential to complete a project in
time and deliver error free
solution.
3.4.2 Improvement strategy three: Dealing with multiple tasks
(a)
Improvement
strategy
Explain what the
specific strategy
is that you will
implement to

(e)
Timing
When the
strategy will be

The specific
improvement
strategy is
periodic
monitoring and
timely presenting
review status
report to the
immediate
superior lead.
I would know the
strategy was
working as my
lead will let me
know after
reviewing each
status report

This strategy is
achievable for
me because I can
deal with
multiple numbers
of tasks at a time.
This strategy is
relevant to lesson

PMMP 20008 – Initiating and Planning Projects Assignment 3
4.1 CONCLUSION
It is summarized that consideration and proper application of a lesson learnt framework, is
helpful not only for the project associates but also for the project manager as well. Each phase of
the PPMP20008 course taught different difficulties that a project team or an individual can face
after being part of a project. How the situation negative impact the entire project and suing
various improvement strategies how those issues can be successfully resolved or restricted from
further affects are also learnt from the course. In addition this the lead or supervisor has to focus
on the other project development aspects as well
