AI Summary
This unit portfolio assignment by Varun Thatikonda for PPMP20012 explores the application of project management (PM) systems to support successful project execution, specifically within the infrastructure and resource industries. The assignment reviews the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, and Scrum, emphasizing the importance of selecting the appropriate approach based on the software product type. It discusses the four-phase SDLC model (conception, definition, execution, and operation phases) and organizational behavior's influence on project success. The portfolio also references key readings on program and portfolio management, highlighting the significance of communication, financial, procurement, quality, resource, risk, schedule, and scope management. The student integrates learnings from lectures, readings, and prior assignments to propose suitable PM application systems, demonstrating an understanding of how these systems aid project managers in monitoring performance and managing changes. The assignment also reflects on systems thinking and engineering concepts, providing a comprehensive overview of project management principles and their practical applications.

“Propose appropriate

From the study details and learning materials of week 9 lecture slides, I have
learned about details of Software Development Life Cycle. In order to deliver
software products the project manager and project team members needs to
follow any particular software development life cycle methodology. The
different methodologies used by the project managers are agile, waterfall,
scrum, spiral, iterative etc. Based on the software product type the most
suitable software development life cycle approach needs to be chosen by the
project managers.
I have learned the four phase model and details stages on SDLC project
development Life cycle. I found that each project development life cycle phases
are interconnected to each other the first phase is conception design phase and
the activities conducted by the project manager in this phase include initiation
stage, feasibility stage and proposal preparation. The activities conducted in
phase B are project identification and system and user requirements. I came to
know about the other SDLC phases respectively execution phase and operation
phase.
I have learned details features of the system improvement and system
termination. The sub activities conducted in the execution phase are fabrication,
testing, training and installation. Before terminating any project or launching
any product the project manager needs to conduct each of these phases.
Moreover, I can say that organizational behaviour and behaviour of each
individual helps to implement any project successfully. I came to know that
organizational performance is dependent on individual’s performance or
contribution of all project associates. In other words, the complete process of
portfolio management are also discussed in the class.
