Report
AI Summary
This report addresses the critical issue of access to clean drinking water, highlighting that a significant portion of the global population lacks access due to inadequate sanitation. The report identifies water contamination and the diseases it causes, particularly affecting women who are primarily responsible for collecting water. It proposes a practical solution using "super sand," a low-cost method for water purification. The report outlines the benefits of super sand, including its cost-effectiveness and enhanced filtration capabilities compared to regular sand. It also discusses the moral correctness of the solution, emphasizing the importance of clean water for human health and well-being. The report concludes by reiterating the urgency of addressing water contamination and the potential of super sand to provide accessible sanitation facilities and clean drinking water to many nations. It references several sources to support its claims, including studies on water purification technologies and the properties of super sand.

Introduction
The considerable community issue that has been recognized deals with access to clean drinking
water. It has been found that more than 24 billion individuals do not have access to clean
drinking water due to lack of developed sanitation facilities (Shannon, et. al., 2010). In other
words, the individuals have to walk a long distance from their homes in order to get access to
clean drinking water. This in turn has an impact on education system of the girls thus raising
their time burden.
The Issue
The access to clean drinking water has been considered as a problem because it is difficult to
gather purified water (Bartram and Cairncross, 2010). In other words, the water that every
individual works hard to gather is contaminated thus making the family members sick leading to
waterborne diseases such as typhoid or cholera. The individuals who are affected due to this
issue are mostly females as they are mostly responsible for collecting water for their households.
The issue is in urgent requirement for a solution to eradicate the diseases.
Proposed Solution
The solution that I have proposed involves using super sand that is mostly used to clean water. It
has been found that millions of individuals are finding it difficult to have access to clean water.
Using super sand has been considered as the low-cost method that helps to purify water. It is an
old strategy that was previously used by rural areas to clean water. The solution that I have found
online is using seeds of miracle tree. This solution is costly as compared to the solution that I
have proposed. However, this solution is more sustainable as compared to the one that I have
proposed.
Benefits of the Solution
The benefits is related to using super sand to get access to clean water which in turn will help in
determination of the competency of sand in removing contaminants from water. The major
advantage is that it is the most cost-effective way to solve the issues that are related with
contaminated drinking water. The negative consequence that might take place will be related to

unhygienic sanitation that will increase the overall rates of open defecation. The super sand
comes with a filtering capacity which is five times greater than that of the regular sand (PhysOrg,
2011). This new material could prove to be a boon for the underdeveloped and developing
countries as it features a very low cost. According to the report of Applied Interfaces and
Materials of the ACS journal the shortage of clean drinking water is for more than a billion
people in such countries (SterliTech, 2011) (ACS, 2011). The nano-based coated sand includes
enhances properties of purification and filtration of water. Such a breakthrough would highly
benefit the people from the underdeveloped and developing nations. Sand beds are usually used
across the globe for filtering and purifying drinking water. The particle size of the surface and
sand modifications help in the determination of sand’s efficiency in the removal of water
contaminants. Such a technology consists of coating sand grains into an oxide of graphite which
is a widely available material; graphite is widely used throughout the world as pencil leads. The
major benefit which outweighs the consequences is that sanitation facilities and clean drinking
water would become accessible to many nations. If this plan is not implemented, the possible
negative outcomes are that the backward nations would continue to suffer from water
contamination issues and diseases which are caused due to the same. Even if water purification is
implemented, the procedures and techniques would be costlier and difficult for them to afford.
Moral correctness of the solution
The solution of purifying and filtering the contaminated water is morally apt and correct. People
around the world, especially those who belong to the backward (underdeveloped and developing)
nations, need to start bring highly concerned and caring about the issue of water contamination.
Water is the source of life of human beings and all living beings. Drinking water is very
important to survive and sustain. If people keep consuming unhygienic and unclean water, it
would lead to several contagious diseases such as cholera, typhoid, etc. We as humans would
never want our children, family, friends, pets, etc. to suffer from such diseases and eventually
die. Hence, an action is required to be taken for the same. The proposed solution is eco-friendly
since it is completely natural here sand would be used, and it is quite cost efficient. Hence, it
should readily be taken.

Conclusion
For how long are people going to suffer from lack of clean drinking and water contamination
issues? Scientists have been working every day to find out the best solutions for such issues.
Finally a technique named super sand has been invented for solving these issues. The major
benefit of the solution is that sanitation facilities and clean drinking water would become
accessible to many nations. It is eco-friendly and cost efficient. If this plan is not implemented,
people would continue to suffer from water contamination issues and diseases.
