Statement of Purpose to pre medical program
My first brush with the medical field came early on when I was still in high school. The
local hospital repaired volunteers to cope up with the growing number of patients due to the flu
epidemic. A group of 20 students was selected form our school, and I was one of them. I was
sixteen and had little clue what medical field was about or how the hospital worked. As I walked
into the hospital, I was not sure of what to expect and what was expected of me. I felt lost and
confused. I was in doubt and wondered if I would like the experience of getting my feet wet in
healthcare. Little did I know that my experience here was going to be a life-changing one for
me.
We had a busy day getting involved in the hospital activities and were assigned different
asks. Whether it was getting medications or helping an old patient on his wheelchair and even
entertain a patient who is bored and get him involved in small talks. I admired at the dedication
of the doctors and their hard work as they worked nonstop to tackle with the ever increasing
number of patients. Although I was tired by the end of the day, all I knew was that I had that
genuine feeling of happiness of making a difference in someone’s life. It was indeed amazing as
to how even the smallest things could make such a huge difference in someone’s life. I looked at
the doctors and felt that what a wonderful life they make, of serving humankind and working
hard despite the adverse conditions and challenges. The next time I went to the hospital, I felt as
if I had just arrived home and this was the world for me. Thereafter, I spent whatever free time I
had at the hospitals, volunteering or shadowing the doctors. I realized how much I enjoyed the

whole experience and looked forward to it. I knew my future goals in life, and it was to become
a doctor and serve the community.
I am aware that becoming a physician is a goal aspired to by many. It is a tough journey
that requires lots of hard work and dedication, not just to enter a medical school, but thereafter
too, when working as a doctor. I am aware of the challenges, uncertainties and long days of hard
work faced by physicians. Still, nothing can compare to the happiness and satisfaction enjoyed in
this profession. Practicing medicine can be a stressful task and working long hours. Despite all
the hardships, I would love to feel that real happiness and satisfaction felt by helping people
through medicine. I can now understand what drives those doctors when they wake up every
morning.
My first choice is Khalifa University as it is known to deliver first-rate education in
medicine.I look at the pre-medical school at Khalifa university the gateway to my dreams of
being a doctor. I am aware that entry into the MD program is very competitive and I look at the
Pre-Medicine Bridge Program as a great opportunity. I am sure that my education here would
help me develop into a great physician who can be a part of the fast developing world-class
healthcare in the region. Once here, I can take advantage of the various research programs that
include genome sciences, Nanomedicine, bio-robotics and more. As I have volunteered at
different hospitals all through my school and college years., I have learned to budget my time to
meet the demands of my education and volunteer activities. I have worked in different
departments in the hospital such as the hospital trauma unit, cancer department, or the mission
work. Those volunteering have not just given me a valuable experience but also shown me the
path of my future and what I wasn’t to be.
