PRECEDE-PROCEED Model Application: Health Promotion Programs

This report provides an overview of the PRECEDE-PROCEED model, a comprehensive framework for planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs, particularly in the context of public health. The model is discussed in relation to diabetes, focusing on older adults. The PRECEDE framework is divided into four phases: social assessment, behavioral and environmental assessment, educational and ecological assessment, and administrative and policy assessment. Each phase is detailed, including its objectives, advantages, and disadvantages, such as the potential ineffectiveness and resource intensiveness of policy implementation. The report emphasizes the importance of using the PRECEDE framework to construct effective health promotion programs by addressing predisposing, reinforcing, and enabling constructs.

PRECEDE-PROCEED MODEL
The precede proceed model is defined as a comprehensive structure or pattern in order to
access the help needs for designing, implementing, and evaluating the health promotion and the
other associated public health campaign or program in order to meet the requirement. The
precede usually provides the structure for the in-depth planning which started and focused on the
programs which are implemented for public health (Bahadori, Ghofranipour, Zarei, Ziaei &
Ghaffarifar, 2021). In the context with diabetes which is chosen health issue and usually focuses
on the older adults who are facing diabetes in the wider way. In addition, the precede framework
is usually divided into four phases. In this, phase one is related to the social assessment where
the diabetes information is shared with the communities who are taking participating. It is
usually vital in order to provide the structure (Calano et. al., 2019). Moreover, phase two is
usually related to the behavioral and environmental assessment, the target group taking under in
order to determine the prevalence and calculation of the patient within the region. In addition,
phase three is usually based on educational and ecological assessment where a diabetes-related
consequence is shared with the older peoples and influences them to make a proper calorie
control diet that makes an overall change within the lifestyle that consists of behavior and
environmental factor (Johnson, 2016). The last phase is usually related to the administrative and
policy assessment where the intervention is designed for diabetes in order to control mortality
and morbidity. In this, the policies are usually implemented for the older people by taking the
concern of diabetes as a chosen health issue. The major disadvantage of this stage is that
sometimes the policy is do not perform well in order to reduce the rising cases of diabetes. It also
takes time and human power to implement such a policy based on administration (Popoola &
Mchunu, 2015).
