This report employs regression analysis to predict car value, treating cost per mile and value score as dependent variables. Initial regressions using Family-Sedan and Upscale-Sedan showed significant cost per mile increases. Further analysis, incorporating Cost/Mile, Road-Test Score, Predicted Reliability, Family-Sedan, and Upscale-Sedan, resulted in a refined regression equation, with insignificant variables removed to enhance model accuracy. The analysis refuted the claim that smaller cars inherently provide better value, emphasizing cost per mile, road-test score, and predicted reliability as key determinants. Predicted reliability emerged as the best single predictor of value score, though a comprehensive model incorporating road test score and cost per mile offered superior predictive capability.
