Introduction
Premarital sex refers to the sexual activity
that is characteristically practiced by persons
before they get wedded.
Conventionally, premarital sex was regarded
as an ethical matter, and was also considered
as unmentionable in dissimilar cultures, apart
from being regarded as an offense by
innumerable religions (Murdock, 2017).

Search strategy
Literature reviews provide a summary of
information from investigations and articles
that have already been published by other
researchers.
A literature review was conducted in order to
summarise scholarly evidences based on the
phenomenon that is currently under
investigation.
The research design was that of a secondary
research.

Religious and moral views
Biblical law and its existing culture did
believe that premarital sex was an act of
relentless offence (Lim, 2019).
The law of the slandered bride (Deut 22:13-
22) that placed an importance on determining
that if on the night of her wedding, any bride
was found to be a non-virgin, she would be
killed.

Teo and Simon (2019) conducted a statistical
investigation of survey responses obtained
from pupils, and found that majority of the
university students showed resentment and
antipathy against engagement in premarital
sex.
Involvement of the students in ethical
developmental activities inculcated in them
the belief of not being associated in
premarital sex.

Poor educational accomplishment or an
elevated socioeconomic position in the
general public made girls more
accommodating and nonjudgmental
regarding the matter of premarital sex
(Majumdar, 2018).
Non-pregnant girls decline to engage in the
act, and sexually active girls either keep their
relations with their partner unrevealed, or
also engage in the secret usage of
contraceptives (Gyan, 2018).

Impact on health
Some of the negative impacts of premarital
sex are substance abuse, suicide, loss of self-
respect, and loss of family support (Shrestha,
2019).
Inspiration and the meaning of matrimony
embedded in the civilization direct the
females (Khalajabadi-Farahani, Månsson &
Cleland, 2019).
Participation in risky sexual behaviour
augments the possibility of suffering from
unintentional pregnancies or sexually
transmitted infections (Rahmani et al., 2016).

Conclusion
It is for the most part influenced by dissimilar
factors like the surroundings, civilization,
involvement with parents, anticipation of a
flourishing matrimony with a spouse, or
connotation of marriage.
Prior to engaging or nonparticipation in
premarital sex, an individual should take into
consideration all the governing factors, and
the influence that they would exert on their
health.
