INTRODUCTION
Business environment is defined as the combination of various factors that are related to
business and create impact on its operations in positive as well as negative manner. In current
competitive business environment, it is important for the business to analyse these concepts and
factors than develop effective planning and strategy that lead business towards attaining
organisational goals and objectives in best possible manner. Now these days, organisational
conduct campaigns to analyse these internal and external factors in order to gain competitive
advantages in current business environment. Market research provides information and data to
employees related to current market trends and customers’ needs and demands that help business
to produce products and services accordingly. In this report chosen organisation is Premier Inn
that is British hospitality organisation founded in 1987 and its headquarter situated in United
Kingdom. It is considered as the largest chain because it operates 800 hotels across UK as well
as another country. Respective hotel in involved in providing great food and comfortable room to
its guest that enhances customer satisfaction and retention. In this report organisational structure

managers are responsible to take business decisions and develop organisational strategy. Lower
and middle level managers are liable to implement these strategies in order to gain desirable
outcomes (Batty, and Gee, 2019). This business structure contains long chain of command in
which information flows from top to down. Employees of organisation are not included in
decision-making and policy formulation process.
Benefits of tall organisational structure: Tall organisational structure contains long chain of
command that ensures proper and systematic flow of information. Managers of Premier Inn allot
all roles and responsibilities among all level of department in clear way that improves
performance of employees. This business structure has clear structure through which employees
are promoted.
Drawbacks of tall business structure: It contains different managerial levels so it take time to
flow information in appropriate manner to all hierarchical department of Premier Inn. Employees
of organisation are not included in decision-making process that demotivates them as well as
reduce their performance level. Organisation missed various market opportunities because
employees are not allowed to take immediate decisions according to situation.

and conducting social media campaigns that will create opportunities for business to cover
higher market share. There are various seasonal offers are provided by hotel to customers that
will help business to attract larger number of customer base and help to gain competitive
advantages over other competitors.
Threats: Premier Inn Hotel faces higher competition various well-known and largest hotels such
as Holiday inn, Easy hotel and others that create negative impact on hotel through reducing its
market share, development opportunity, customer base as well as profitability (Niemi, and
Pekkola, 2017). There are various environmental situations such as pandemic of Covid-19 and
recession in economic enhances threat for the hotel in business environment.
