Part 3
The discussion on Presentation Techniques has greatly influenced my way of
communication for business purposes. Initially, my understanding of effective communication
comprised the things I should do to pass my message. However, I did not pay close attention to
ensure my message is well understood. This presentation, has taught me to be careful when
preparing presentations and take everything into perspective.
For instance, I have learned that a speech should have a logical flow of ideas. This way,
the audience is able to remember the message. I can implement this by preparing for speeches in
advance and take much time to develop my ideas and structure them in a way that fits my
audience (Lillico, 2016). I have also learned that practicing and revising is an important aspect in
speech presentation. I can implement this technique by revising and rehearsing my speech to
ensure that I remember it and pronounce words and phrases correctly. Lastly, I have also learned
that nonverbal communication is the heart of all communication. The nonverbal cues and aspects
of speech that you use in communication can communicate meaning even before words come out
(De Nobile, 2016). Therefore, am aiming to work on using the correct gestures, facial
expressions, purposeful movements, tonal variation, and other components of nonverbal
communication to improve my presentation techniques.
One way I can apply the knowledge of Presentation Techniques in my professional
development is by rehearsing my speeches with a few people days before I present them. This
way, I will sharpen my skills.
