Report
AI Summary
This report examines the effectiveness of regular bed repositioning in preventing pressure injuries among bed-bound patients. The research employs a constructivist paradigm, focusing on the subjective experiences and qualitative data collected from patients. It highlights the challenges pressure injuries pose in healthcare and investigates whether consistent repositioning reduces their occurrence. The study uses a qualitative methodology, emphasizing the importance of patient experiences and the subjective impact of bed repositioning, acknowledging that outcomes may vary among individuals. The primary research method involves gathering personal accounts from patients to understand the effects of repositioning on their pressure injuries, aiming to provide authentic, unbiased data on this aspect of patient care.

Introduction of research questions and research paradigm
The major questions that have been asked in the assessment 1 of the research are mainly
focusing and revolving around the concept of pressure injuries and the regular repositioning of
the bed bound patients in particular. Firstly, the concept of pressure injuries in particular is
defined in the research. Next question is regarding the reasons why pressure injuries are a major
challenge in the healthcare industry in particular. One of the major result of the research is to
understand the effectiveness of the regular repositioning of the bed bound patients for the
purpose of prevention of the pressure injuries within a hospital setting in particular.

The major questions that have been asked in the assessment 1 of the research are mainly

Research paradigm basically refers to a philosophical framework in particular on which a
particular research is based on (Khaldi., 2017). It basically offers a pattern of the understandings
as well as the beliefs through which the practices and the theories of the particular research
project operates. The major components of a research paradigm are, ontology, methodology and
epistemology. The research paradigm that is used in this research is constructivist. The
applicable research paradigm to this particular research is constructivist because pressure injuries
are considered to be more impactful in case of no occurrence of bed repositioning of the bed
bound patients. This is as per the experiences that people have had. Many of the people have
gained wellness because of bed repositioning and as per the understanding of people this is one
major reason to avoid pressure injuries.
In this research philosophy in particular the topic that is being discussed is based on real
issues which basically points to the concept of ontology in particular. The major issue that is
faced is of pressure injuries in the hospital premises. It is basically a view of the researcher that
the research that is being conducted is on what kind of topic. In this research subjective research
in particular is being used as the impact of repositioning of the bed bound patients for prevention
of pressure injuries in the hospital premises and this is something which is not factual but might
show positive results. Hence, something which is not scientific or factual in particular like in this
case, the concept of bed repositioning might work for some patients, and they might not get
pressure injuries but the others might still be pressurized because of them being bed bound and
the process of bed repositioning might also not keep them away from the pressure injuries.
Therefore, pressure injuries are considered to be subjective in this research.
Epistemology basically refers to the study based on knowledge. In this research
interpritivism is used because the research might differ for every patient and there are no
scientific facts and calculations involved. This is mainly because each patient that is bed bound
obviously has a different experience when it comes to bed repositioning and its helpful impact on
pressure injuries. Because, of the difference still most of the patients are resulted in having
positive impacts on their existing pressure injuries or the pressure injuries they might potentially
have. But due to bed repositioning they still have a little change. Pressure injury is a topic that is
interpretivist.
Methodology refers to the ways of identifying and evaluating in research. In this
qualitative methodology is used as it is more appropriate in this situation (Rehman. and
particular research is based on (Khaldi., 2017). It basically offers a pattern of the understandings

Alharthi., 2016). The major source through which qualitative data is collected is by taking
samples from the bed bound patients that have been in the same situation for a month or more
than that. This particularly will help in understanding the change in the levels of pressure
injuries. Hence, this methodology is the most appropriate one as per this research. The research
mainly focuses on the relevance of bed repositioning on the increase or the decrease in the level
of bed bound patients, which will obviously need data to analyse from the patients themselves.
Therefore, qualitative methodology is the most appropriate option.
Description of the methodology and the method.
The methodology that is used in this particular research is the qualitative research
methodology. This is because mainly the research is to be done regarding the amount or the
number of pressure injuries that are happening and will the concept of bed repositioning help or
support the patients that are bed bound (Silverman., 2020). As per the ontology that is used in the
above paragraphs it is particularly considered that as per the experiences of the bed bound
patients who are most likely to go through the pressure injuries, the concept of bed repositioning
has mostly been helpful and has had a positive impact on the patients in particular. The major
research to be done is regarding the qualitative aspect and the experiences and impact on the
levels of pressure injuries, that is why qualitative research is the most suitable.
The method that is used is primary method (SYLVIA., 2018). This is because the
experiences of the patients need to be collected personally as each of the opinion might be
different from that of others. Also, this is something that is related to the major issues of the
patients that are already bed bound that is the pressure injuries, the data should be authentic and
the researcher should also not be biased.
