INTRODUCTION
Project management is referred to as the planning and execution of the project for the
success completion of the project (Allmendinger and et.al., 2017). This is very essential for the
company to have effective planning of the project because if the planning will not be good and
effective then the same will not be good then the whole project will not start in proper manner.
The current project is relating to development of treatment for the people suffering from the
pressure ulcer. The pressure ulcer affects the underlying health condition of the person generally
with high level of frailty. The project will outline the use of continuous pressure monitoring
technology to identify hot- spots of pressure generated. This project is initiated by Peninsula
Community Health and will majorly focus on older people living within the community of
Cornwall. This project will also focus over the continuous pressure monitoring and is coupled
with patient and carer education as well.
TASK 1
Business case of project
Introduction/ Background
In the current world most of the people are very health conscious and are very attentive
towards their health and safety. This is the main reason behind the continuation of this
project. This is pertaining to the fact that the diseases are large in size and it is very
essential for the people to have measures of treating the diseases. Out of this the most
common disease with which almost half a million people in UK are suffering and
developing is the pressure ulcer. Most of the pressure ulcer is developed within the
person from the home only and this has high average in elder population. Several
patient shared that the use of pressure relieving equipment is not comfortable as they
are hot and noisy. Thus, there is need of developing a good system of monitoring the
pressure ulcer.
2.0 Business Objective
“To organize of ways of dealing with the problem of pressure ulcer in the older people
living within the Cornwall.”

In current the companies are trying to develop some of the technology and monitoring
system for the protection against the pressure ulcer. But these pressure monitoring
technology is used in order to identify the hot- spots of the pressure which is generated
when the patient sit in a single position for long period of time. The opportunity in this
is that the innovative technology can help people in identifying the pressure ulcer risk
at the earliest and this allows the patient to adjust and maintain their position in
accordance to that position. This will relieve the person from the pain and problem
which they face when they sat in a single position for a longer period of time. In the
current project it is anticipated that 18 month time period and 50 patients will be
focused and recruited for the study.
4.0 Critical Assumption and Constraints
Assumption
The major assumption taken for the project is that all the people are suffering from the
same level of pain and problem. This is assumed because of the fact that this
assumption will help the people in assessing the fact that the treatment will also be
same for the entire patient as the level of pain is same.
Another major assumption is that the treatment of the pressure ulcer will be measured
with the investigating changes in the size of the ulcer and its formation. Also, in
addition to this the time of nursing and the level of carer engagement in the ulcer
prevention will be considered.
Constraints
The one of the most important and crucial constraint in this project is the fact that every
person is different and their needs are also different. Thus, it is not necessary that what
is good for one patient will also be good for the other patient. Hence, this restricts the
treatment of the patient in good and effective manner.
Another major constraint in the treatment of the pressure ulcer is the implementation of
the technology within the use of treatment of ulcer. This is majorly pertaining to the
fact that the technology is hard to implement as this involves a high cost of implanting
the system within the treatment of the patients. Thus, this might restrict the treatment of
pressure ulcer or might involve some restriction.
In addition to this another major constraint is the technology and its knowledge and this
system for the protection against the pressure ulcer. But these pressure monitoring

is due to the fact that even if the technology is being implanted then also training need
to be provided to the carer and if they will not be able to understand the technology in
proper manner then this might cause some problem in the treatment.
5.0 Preliminary Project Requirements
Objective and mission- this is the most important requirement for the project because if
the objective and mission will not be clearly stated then the people will not know that
how they have to operate the patients and take care of them. Thus, this is the most
essential requirement for project manager to ensure that every person has clarity for the
goal that is to be attained.
Management structure- this is the most important requirement for the success of the
project. This is because if the management will not be good then the project cannot be
executed in good and proper manner. Also, the people working in this project need to
make sure that there is proper clarity of work and all the roles and duties are assigned
in proper and effective manner.
Legal requirement- this is also an important requirement for the project as this includes
the entire legal requirement which need to be fulfilled by Peninsula Community. The
legal requirement is necessary because this include the risk of life of a person. Thus,
the company must ensure all the legal formalities relating to the life of patient.
Finance- this is also an important requirement for the success of project because
without finance no single work can be done. The finance or the money is the most
important thing for the operation in the project as this will not be attained if enough
money is not there.
7.0 Budget Estimate and Financial Analysis
Estimated Budget is $50,000
9.0 Potential Risks
Contractual risk- this is the most important risk which is faced by the company. This is
majorly pertaining to the reason that there are many contracts which is signed with
many different third parties. Sometimes there are many risks which might be faced by
the Peninsula Community in managing the different client.
Technological risk- this is also a major risk which is being faced by the company in
implementing the technology within the project. This is because of the reason that the
to be provided to the carer and if they will not be able to understand the technology in
proper manner then this might cause some problem in the treatment.

TASK 2
Mendelow matrix
The stakeholder is the one who are interested in the working and development of the
project. These are the people who are working on the success of the company and the project in
such a way that the project gets successful and the stakeholder gets what they need to attain
(Hoobler and et.al., 2018). The mendelow matrix is the one which help the project in analysing
the different stakeholder groups and this is done on the basis of power and interest which they
hold on the project. This is very essential for the project manager to have defined all the power
and interest of all different stakeholders because every stakeholder has different set of power and
interest within the project and it is necessary for the project to take care of all the needs of the
stakeholder. This is necessary because of the reason that if the stakeholder will not be satisfied
and if their interest will not be attained then they will not work in proper and effective manner.
Hence the working of the project might be affected and for this it is essential for the company to
satisfy the interest of all the stakeholders.
In accordance with the Mendelow matrix the stakeholder are divided in four different
categories that is the one which is having high power and high interest, second is high power low
interest that is keep satisfied. The third one is the low power and high interest which is keep
informed and the last one is the low power and low interest which is monitor. In accordance to
this matrix the four stakeholders being identified are project manager, project sponsor, resource
manager and the project team member (Eybers and Hattingh, 2018). These entire four
stakeholders are the major stakeholder for the success of the project and their power and interest
are different in the project.
The major responsibility of the project manager is to manage all the different activities
being undertaken in the management of the project. This is because the manager is the one who
ensures that the right activity is being allotted to right person having needed skills and
knowledge. The power and interest of the project manager is both high and these need to be
managed closely for the success of the project.
Another major stakeholder of the project of pressure ulcer is the project resource
allocator and the major responsibility of this stakeholder is of the allocating the resources to the
different activities which are being undertaken in the project (Schaltegger and Wagner, 2017).
The resources are very less and these need to be used in wise and optimal manner. Thus, the

power of the resource allocator is high but they not have much interest in the project. This is
because of the fact that their major responsibility is to allocate the resources in optimal manner
so that the project gets successful. Thus, they come in the category of keep satisfied as they do
not have much interest in the project so they are satisfied with the working in the project
(Shanafelt, Goh and Sinsky, 2017).
The other stakeholder that is project sponsor are the one who invest in the project and
finance the project so that its entire requirement can be met and this comes under the category of
low power and high interest that is keep informed. This is because the interest of the sponsor is
of success of the project as they are investing the money in it but they are not given much power
within the project.
The last stakeholder is the project team and these are the most important stakeholder as
these are the people who actually work on the project and its completion. The team of the project
is the most important stakeholder but comes under the category of monitor that is low power and
low interest under the Mendelow matrix. This is majorly pertaining to the fact that if these
stakeholders will not work in proper and effective manner then the project will not be successful.
Thus, the success of the project only depends on the people who are working on it (Whelan and
Fink, 2016). If the team will not be made in effective and efficient manner and if talented and
knowledgeable people are not there in the project then the project will not be in the manner as it
is intended.

Stakeholder Analysis
The entire stakeholders have different role and responsibilities within the project
completion and thus, this depends over the power and interest they have in the project. The major
responsibility of the project manager is to assign the roles and responsibilities to the other people
working on the project. Also, this includes the management and coordination of all the work and
activities being assigned and carrying on in the project. On the other side the major responsibility
of another stakeholder that is project sponsor is to provide for the money and finance in order to
manage the operations taking place in the project (Elsaid, Salem and Abdul-Kader, 2017). The
major role of the sponsor is to give money in the project and its successful completion only. The
