INTRODUCTION
Globalisation has brought the biggest transformation in method of doing business. It has
both positive and negative effect on business performance. Globalisation has brought some
opportunities as well as challenges for company operating their business at international level. The
present report have focus on analysing the effect of globalisation on the business in context of Pret
manger. Study will include the detail about different methods used by researcher for conducting the
investigation process. It will also include the suggestions related to various strategies which can
implemented by an organisation in order to achieve success in global market.

Aim : Analysing the impact of globalisation on business – A case study on Pret manger.
Objectives:
In terms of their growth at such a fast rate, I will be considering how they have
achieved this success in the global market and why people are happy to have the chain
in their country.
Is it because of their contribution to the wellbeing of the population through their
food: Sandwiches, Salads, fresh fruits, juices, coffee, soups, wraps, baguettes and
croissants?
Has the food and fresh fruit really enabled them such success? And led to growing
demand for breakfasts by local people to help them to have a healthier lifestyle?
Have Pret reached a stage whereby they have been accepted in the various countries and
have transcended religion, culture and dietary concerns on such a large scale?
In terms of responsibilities: The Chain takes responsibility against the pollution of the
environment, the public premises which serve food or drink on using plastic bottles. It will
ask customer to bring their own cup and will get 25p discount, they have in place a
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR policy). Therefore, a well-designed reusable cup has
been launched because Pret say that they want to be environmentally friendly.
Rationale for selecting the topic :
The Reasons for choosing this research project is that many organisations are facing the
issues because of globalisation so scholar wants to help them in dealing with global issues.. The

other rationale is that scholar has interest in analysing the impact of globalisation on business. Study
is important a it will assist company in identifying the strategies for ensuring success in
international market.
Literature review
According to the view of (Ritzer and Dean, 2019), Globalisation can be referred to as the
procedure of through which companies develops international influences on an international scale.
As per the opinion of Epstein, (2018), globalisation can be defined as the integration of economy.
The author states that Globalization presents opportunities to increase prosperity. According to the
perception of Hamilton and Webster,(2018), business entity in order to ensure success in
internation market need to develop the understanding about effect of changes in global factors on
their business operations. As per the view of Rodrik, (2018), strategic partnership is the best
strategy to ensure success at global level. The author also stated that strategic partnership strategy
will help firm in gaining competitive advantage. According to the thinking of Hamilton, (2018), an
enterprise need to concentrate on delivering the quality products or services to customers, as this
tactic will help them in ensuring success. As per the view of Epstein,(2018), corporate social
responsibility is the strategy will can assist business entity in ensuring the success in global market.

Research methods are basically different techniques, approaches, strategies and philosophies
which are utilised by researcher for conducting the investigation on specific topic. It helps scholar
in executing the research project in systematic manner (Quinlan, Babin and Griffin, 2019).
Selection of an appropriate research methodology is very much crucial as it has direct as well as
significant effect in research outcome. The different research methodologies which has been
selected by investigator in present study are:
Research type: There are different types of research. But quantitative and qualitative are the
two most commonly used research type. In context of present investigation, scholar will use
qualitative research type (Flick, 2018). The reason for selecting the qualitative research type is that
it helps in collecting the detailed information related to the topic.
Design of research: It is basically a pre-arrangement made by investigator for collection of
facts related to the topic. Experimental, explanatory, exploratory, and descriptive are the little
research design which are generally used by the researcher. I
Research approach : The selection of the research approach is completely based on the
nature of the problem. Inductive and deductive are the two most commonly used research approach.
Scholar will use inductive research approach for present investigation. Limitation of inductive
research approach is that it takes specific observations and makes general conclusions out of them.
Research philosophy: It is basically a belief about the strategies or techniques which can be
utilised for gathering, analysing and interpretation of the facts related to topic. The two types of
research philosophy are interpretivism and positivism. Researcher will use interpretivism
philosophy in present study. .
Data collection : It is considered to be as important task in context of research. Primary and
secondary are the two sources from where the data related to the topic can be gathered. In context of
present investigation, scholar will have to focus on collection of facts or figures using primary
sources. The technique that will be used by researcher for gathering of data include interview and
questionnaire. The close ended questions will be included in questionnaire form (King, Horrocks,
and Brooks, 2018). Some amount of information will be accumulated from the secondary sources
such as using books, journal, magazines etc.
Sampling: There are two types of sampling these are probability and non probability. In
context of present study, researcher will use probability sampling, as by adopting the probability
sampling technique, researcher can provide people an equal chance to get selected as participants in

research process. In addition to this, researcher will use random sampling technique. Limitation of
random sampling technique is that sample selection bias can occur (Clarke, 2018).
Data analysis: In context of present study, qualitative technique will be utilised by scholar
for analysing the information. In addition to this, the various themes will be prepared based on the
questions and answers provided by participants. The advantage of using thematic analysis is that it
helps in making the research report presentable and understandable (Bell, Bryman and Harley,
2018 ).

Type of research : qualitative research has been performed because it provides investigator in
collecting the huge amount of data related to subject.
Research design : in context of present study, scholar will use descriptive research design. The
rationale for choosing the descriptive research design is that it provides researcher an ease in
designing the questions for collecting the information. Limitation of descriptive research design is
that Participants may not be truthful.
Research approach : inductive research approach has been used because it enables researcher to
develop the in depth understanding about problems and assist them in performing investigation in
systematic manner.
Research philosophy: Reason for selecting the in interpretivism research philosophy is that it is
based on naturalistic approach for collection of facts related to the topic of research. Limitation of
interpretive philosophy is that there are high chances of biases from scholar side.
Sampling :The reason for choosing the random selecting random sampling is that it helps in
eliminating the biasses. Researcher will select twenty participants. Population will be employees
working in Pret manger organisation.
Data collection : Questionnaire technique has been used for collection of information related to the
topic , as it is less time as well as cost consuming.
Data analysis: Thematic analysis has been used as it provides investigator an ease in analysing the
way responses are provided by participants.

Costs : There are basically a two costs associated with implementation of research project
these are fixed and variable costs (Razzaghi and Afshar, 2018.). Fixed costs associated with
execution of research project are data collection, printing, stationery etc. The huge amounts of costs
is mainly associated with collection of information.
Access : The information related to the project will be utilised using the interview as well as
questionnaire technique. In addition to this, online article, journals, annual reports of pret manger
will be used for analysing the impact of globalisation on pret manger.
Ethical issues: In context of present research, the various preventive measures has been
