INTRODUCTION
The present research is been conducted to analyse the barriers of preventing pressure
ulcers in nursing homes. It will also discuss about how ulcers can be avoided in old age people.
This gives a brief idea about what is ulcers and how they can be prevented in nursing homes.
Besides this, the research will also show the care facilities that are provided by nursed in care
homes to prevent ulcers (vanGerven & Bohte, 2017). Moreover, what are the policies that is
developed by Care Quality commission and how it is followed by nursing staff in preventing
ulcers. In addition to this, the research gives an insight on what are ulcers and why they occur in
old age people. Also, it shows types of ulcers and what effect it can have of physical as well as
mental health of people. Furthermore, it describes that how quality of health is affected when
person is suffering from ulcer. An ulcer can occur due to risk pressure or damage of skin. In this
there are several risk factors that are included in it. The research also gives information about
types of barriers that occur in preventing ulcer and how it can be overcome. Apart from this,
what are the various theories that can be applied in this. The entire research revolve around ulcer
and patient health.
The significance of this research is to provide nursing homes about ulcer and their
prevention methods. Also, it will help them to identify barriers in preventing ulcer. It also shows
social responsibility of health care workers in nursing homes. Also, research is conducted to
identify the complexity that occurs in preventing pressure ulcer.
METHODOLOGY AND DESIGN
Research is always conducted by applying a specific method. Similarly, the present
research was conducted by using the qualitative design (Kitajo & et.al 2015). For this semi
structured interviews was conducted to collect and gather data. This method is generally used to
get a deep and thorough knowledge about the selected area of subject. In this the researcher does
not collect any numerical data but only analyse the relevant subject. Basically, this method is
used in the filed of science and medical related research. In order to identify that whether present
method is correct or not for present research, the strengths and weakness is identified. This is as
below :-

method is correct or not for present research, the strengths and weakness is identified. This is as
below :-

Strengths –
This method was appropriate for present research as it was related to medical field. Also,
it helped in giving theoretical knowledge about barriers and theories of ulcer. With this
the researcher easily identified facilities to prevent ulcer in old age people.
Another strength of using this method in research was it helped in identifying the main
barriers that occurred in nursing homes.
Weakness –
This method only gave theoretical knowledge about types of barriers, but didn't give any
specific reason or factor of barrier (Orcher, 2016). By using another method it would be
easy to find the main reason behind prevention of barrier. Also, it would have given
numerical data about this.
The main weakness was data was collected using semi structured interview. So it was not
proper and didn't give appropriate data. Only certain questions were asked to respondents
so it did not give entire information about the subject.
Data collection – The data was collected by conducting the semi structured interview. This
means that only certain and relevant questions related to topic was asked by researcher. It helped
in collecting specific data about ulcer. Moreover, it is easy method because only specific
questions are asked so that it can be easily answered by respondents. This type of interview are
normally short and do not take much time. In this data is collected as well as analysed.
According to the nature and subject of research it is the best method to collect data. The
respondents can also share their ideas and opinions freely.
Validity – It refers to the use of instruments that is used by researcher in measuring data. In
present research, the data is been measured by using the framework analysis (Okon-Singer &
et.al 2015). So it was done to measure the barriers that prevent pressure ulcer in nursing home.
Reliability – It refers to the reliability in tools that are been used in measuring data. For present
research data is measured by using the theoretical framework analysis. In this domains were
identified based on their frequency. So the frequency determined by researcher might vary. It

they might measure data on different frequency level.
LITERATURE REVIEW AND SAMPLING DESIGN
The literature that has been studied in research is specific. It describes each segment
related to study and how they are interconnected to each other. Besides this, researcher has also
thoroughly investigated duties and roles of nursing staff. In addition to this, researcher has
identified relevant theories of behaviour that can lead to ulcer. Also, he has shown that
guidelines related to providing care to people who are suffering from ulcer. Researcher has also
explained the concerns that occur while providing care services. This briefly explains why
barriers can occur in this ( Frederick, 2016). With this it has been easy to understand that why it
is important to identify barriers and remove them.
The target population that was used in research was various people belonging from
belonging to nursing homes. In this 25 participants were taken as sample size that include 2
managers, 7 assistance, 11 nurses, 4 tissue viability nurses and 1 manager was selected. The
researcher have expanded the area to select population. He has also selected people from
government agencies.
Sample design will also very much required to ascertain the particular research methods
(Demarré and et.al., 2015). In terms of present study and objectives, researcher conduct
interview of home, nurses, healthcare assistants and managers, National health services
community based wound specialist nurses. This research has been taken theoretical framework to
explore the barriers and facilitators to more understand the actual critical condition of the
situation criteria. Thuis study has been taken the method of inclusion and exclusion to generalize
the familiar method of obtaining the number of element in the union two finite sets. This helps to
present the actual data and facts from the study that helps to summarize the actual impact of the
disease (Lavallée and et.al., 2018).
Ethical based practice would be very much essential to maintained the securing level
while conducting research process. This also helps to make sure ethical based evidence based
they might measure data on different frequency level.

Ethical based practice would be very much essential to maintained the securing level
while conducting research process. This also helps to make sure ethical based evidence based

practice and surrounding issues as they bear on occupational therapy and rehabilitation.
Researcher must ensure that they conduct or concluded fair practices for conducting research.
Research ethics has become an increasingly important phenomenon and the ethical
requirement process, Which represents the better objectivity level. Besides, research also
accountable for the process to be implemented properly according to research aim (Orcher,
2016). Such as nurses of any designation working on the INTACT study or all the participants of
the study are fairly given their views on the topic in proper ethical consideration. Present study
has got approved research and development department at the participating NHS.
FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
On the basis of above research, it has been seen that 25 participation in semi structured
form, out of them some participants has been given conduct survey face to face interviews from
three nursing home sites. Overall, this presents the level of work accordingly. On the basis of
result findings it has been said that, that researcher faced barriers physical skills, social
influences, environmental context and resources. Conclusion of this study is that, prevention of
ulcers are very much necessary for health care in UK. This study focused on the pressure of
prevention in nursing home setting using the theoretical domains' framework. Also, on the basis
of recommendation part, it has been seen that NHS or other health care sector required to make
the proper and effective learning material task to take some innovation planning and goals
(Kitajo & et.al 2015).. Apart from that, it also helps to keep the process effective and learning
goals. More it happened in term of making better task performance games and better opportunity
and goals. University of Manchester has required to keep the research sustain and better in order
to sustain the long term goals. For recommending the further strategies and plan according to the
best possible action plan. Study also needs to acquired to take some more awareness plan in term
to reduce the possibilities of disease (Frederick, 2016). Also, it is concluded that ulcer patients
faces a lot of pressure that damages their skin. They are not provided proper and effective care at
nursing homes.
