Introduction
This essay brings out a discussion on literature that is based on primary health care services for the
older people. This essay explains primary health care for aged people. Further, it evaluates the
resources that are allocated and at the same time, they are treated with primary health care
approach. This essay also carries a critical discussion on primary healthcare services delivered for the
older people. As a part of critical discussion, this essay includes literature on how elderly people are
treated in nursing homes. Elderly people are affected risk factors such as emotional factors,
psychological factors, and physical factors that have resulted to increase in the population of elderly
people in nursing homes. The growing change in the lifestyles and adaption of western culture that
have resulted in managing complex relationships between the working class adults and elder
parents. Meanwhile, social groups such as old-aged homes and other institutional groups who
participate actively from these groups have not shown improved living conditions of the elderly
people but these old aged homes have not shown any positive results.
Increasing longevity is the symbol of social economic development and public health. Although, most
of the individuals face the risk of at least one chronic disease such as osteo-muscular, diabetes, and
hypertension. Every country needs to remain prepared so that it can address the consequences of
various demographic conditions. In order to deal with increasing burden of chronic diseases, it
requires health promotion and prevention strategically intervene at community level where disease
management strategies have to be accomplished within the healthcare system. WHO collaborate
with certain partners and the ministry of health from developing and developed countries so that it
can produce age friendly PHC kit that aims to sensitize and educate medicine and treatment
providers about the needs of the older clients?
Elderly people are the integral part of our society. In the last few decades, the researchers have
started addressing the problem because of growing population nearly 30% senior people are paid
their pension schemes. Institutional elder abuse is defined as mistreatment, which happens nursing
homes, care homes, and assisted living. This type of elder abuse at the nursing homes range from
emotional, sexual, and physical to isolation and avoiding behaviour from the caregivers. For
example- financial exploitation happens when a caretaker tries to abuse and undue advantage by
stealing money from their rooms. Sometimes elderly people suffer from severe injury, loss, and pain,
which may lead to violation of human rights finally leading to reduction in the quality life of elderly
individual. This demeanour is known as ignorance, negligence and disrespecting also depends on the
frequency of types of mistreatment applied on them with severe results. In order to determine the
cruelty, neglect, and abuse shown by perception of families, health care providers, and caretakers

Material exploitation
It is the exploiting the assets, money and property of the elderly people without their permission
and threating them emotionally and physically. As positioning them at the place of huge risk by not

even providing them, the basic care is absolutely unethical. Caretakers do not have mercy, threaten
old, fragile, and disable people with absolute rudeness and brutal behaviour. Caretakers do not give
proper care of the people of the fragile who are not even availed proper nutritional food, medical
care, lack of love and they usually lacks strength to fight.
Financial deprivation- shortage of enough resources will lead to lack of basic amenities and poor
quality of life. The wrong behaviour in which caretakers hide their personal medications or air
pumps of the heart patients can lead to severe death. Property snatching such as chain snatching
and ornaments snatching by the caretakers by taking undue advantage or coercion of them.
Isolation and other body pain- isolation means cutting a person from a group of society where
he/she gets an opportunity to interact and share to different community activities and social
environment. Physical abuse consists of injury and physical pain and tortures includes side pinching,
slapping, restraining, hitting, and bruising which has resulted in pain. Sexual abusing, rape of aged
women, molesting not only abuse at physical level but also mental level.
Psychological and emotional torment- threatening, insecurity, strain, stress, and humiliating
behaviour of the caretakers breaks the trust of elderly people. Verbal humiliation is another
emotional hurting that includes being rude, disrespectful, insulting, and sensitive behaviour for the
elderly people. Humiliation, yelling, eve teasing, and threats are some of the important examples of
verbal abuse. Keeping children away from elderly people gives them another type of isolation such
as depression.
However, these days’ older people have become much more active, playful, visible, and
independent. Older people are living their lives more appropriately without their children as their
have formed their own society and jointly do get togethers. As the populations of the world is
increasing so as the number of older people also increases. Modern culture morals, traditions and
believe systems indirectly affect the generational relationships, family dynamics and other
challenges in regards to changing roles and responsibilities of adults. The society does not value
dignity, non-abusive and support to each elderly people. Sometimes, it can be seen that elderly
people are locked away from the children that is not less than ignorant situation.
Other elderly people such as in the case of indigenous aboriginal, tribal people and the Torres
islanders that face financial dependencies and language barriers of results. It has become important
to ignore such hilarious signs of disrespect that even sounds so unethical and abusive. Such cultures
even do not respect human rights such as they may treat poor people as their slave. The society has
to take some steps in regards to achievement of educational goals for elderly people. The children
who leave their parents in nursing homes has to develop of responsibility as these people were the
one who catered them in their childhoods. Increase in the number of relief centres, primary
healthcare centres, and nursing places promoter social contact from the families. In order to
promote social attitude, the society can take several steps such as educating people in regards to
ignorance that are further subjected to sexual, emotional, psychological abuse. Old age
organisations promote support from the families and social contact and they should conduct and
promote social meetings with the help of conducting workshops, religious sessions, sports meet,
theatrical sessions for different plays, and other recreational sessions on yoga. To promote
