This report details the design of a Local Area Network (LAN) for a primary school in Liverpool, serving approximately 1200 people. The project scope involves replacing the existing network with a new, efficient, and secure system using Cisco networking equipment. The report outlines the hardware requirements, including Cisco routers (1900 series), switches (SG500-28P-K9-G5), cables (RJ45), a firewall (ASA5506-K9), and a core switch (Catalyst 6500 series), along with PCs, projectors, and surveillance cameras. The network infrastructure is designed using a top-down methodology, with detailed diagrams illustrating the ICT classroom setup. The report includes network configurations for switches and routers, a cost estimation for the proposed hardware, and a conclusion summarizing the project's success in providing a scalable, secure, and cost-effective LAN solution for the primary school. References to relevant networking literature are also provided.
