School breakfast and obesity walking away
Introduction
As per the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare 4 out of 1 child of age group 2 to 17 are a victim of obesity. It has
been observed that this obesity is growing continuously among children. Many obesity control strategies have been made
but all of them least success in school going kids. A community based intervention program showed for 5 years old kids
showed actual decline high BMI incidences. There has been another project for children of Balmain public primary
school in order to reduce obesity. This program increases kid’s activity level with the help of walking in schools so that
obesity can be avoided in schools.
Health Promotion and Target Group outline
This health promotion plan will focus on all the students between age group 4-12 years who attends Balmain public
primary school and does not meet physical activities that are recommended. As per the estimation approximately 500
children will participate in this programme. This health promotion plan is beneficial for various ways and will promote
overcoming of childhood obesity by organising physical activities which is pleasurable to children. Most of the
emphasis is placed on lunch menu for children so that all the benefits can be given to the children of Balmain public
primary school.

This health promotion plan purposes to prevent obesity in primary school going children by involving them in school
breakfast and encouraging walking-to-school.

The main objective of health promotion prevention is to focus on interventions to sustain a healthy life. This health
promotion plan focuses on reducing child obesity in school going children. It has been observed that low-income family
children are likely to develop this obesity as they fail to meet diet requirements on daily basis.

Health Promotion Activity Description
For this activity two main methods will be chosen which are: first is to increase cultural sustainability, attractiveness
and dietary values of school breakfast and second is to change school environment by changing school’s breakfast
program.
Health Promotion Evaluation Proposal
This health promotion evaluation will involve processes to measure promotion plan achievement by including changes
in promotional activities and changes in menu. For this a health promotion survey will be conducted both before and
after the health promotion.
CONCLUSION
By improving the dietary and activity level of students Obesity free coalition for Children in Balmain can be obtained.
