Introduction:
This paper is having the aim of elaborating the processes of project selection methods and
with this paper will be also elaborating some important details regarding the project initiation of
the new app launch for the Uber drivers. Not only for this project but for all of the projects it is
very much important to select some appropriate project selection methods that is important for
the proper completion of the project (Ortíz, Felizzola & Isaza, 2015). In this paper proper
explanation will be provided regarding processes of the project management in the aspect of
project development processes. In this aspect it will be also described why the selected project
selection method is the most appropriate for the provided case study of the Uber. For that it will
be compared with other types of project selection methods. With all of these discussion, this
paper will also discuss about the processes for selecting the project and with that a proper risk
assessment will be done for the project that is initiated by the Uber.
Discussion:
As per the Project Management Book of Knowledge or the PMBOK, properly selecting
the plan for a specific type of project is very much important. This factor is quite important for
the development of any type of project as effective project plan can be extracted from this
(Siegelaub, 2017). Through this future scope of the project can be understood and the
effectiveness of the working process can be determined.
In the following process it has been determined that proper investment is very much
important so that the mentioned project of the Uber can executed properly. In this aspect it has
been determined that in this case proper type of project management plan need to be selected so
that this project can be executed without any type of major issues. In this case it has been also

determined that while a specific type of project management plan has been selected it is very
much important to consider various aspect of the project scenario. As per the case study of the
Uber it has been determined that in this aspect a proper application need to be delivered which
will be able to guide both of the Uber drivers and the customers of them automatically in a
proper way. The overall project is actually having the aim of reducing the overall cost to the
Uber and it will be done by maximization of the time utilization. Thus, in the following section
the case study of the Uber and important aspects of the project is described properly.
For this project, first of all it is very much important to properly understand the why the
project is important to the Uber Company and how this project will be benefitting them.
While this project will be beneficial for the organization whether can it utilize all of the
available resources?
Whether this project will be able to attract new customers?
How this project will be going to improve the current status of the organization?
What are the major risks in this project?
What are the main expectations from the end of the stakeholders?
While the above aspects of the project has been considered it has been assessed that current
project of Uber will be enhancing the overall services of them. It will be very much effective for
both of the customers and the drivers. This project will be maximizing the time utilization for the
Uber, thus improving the overall profit.

For the case scenario of the Uber application implementation it has quite important to
select a proper type of project management plan so that overall project can be executed in a

management that can be utilized and these are the scrum model, waterfall model and the agile
model. In the following section these models are described briefly.
Scrum Model:
The scrum model is can be used for development for most of the project and is also
applicable for this project of Uber. Here the main reason behind choosing this project is that it
does not follows any type of traditions that is related with the master slave (Munawar, Yousaf &
Hamid, 2018). This model is capable of taking all the aspects of the project to the center and
from there development process can be started which will be involving all of the members who
are the part of development team for this project. For all of these aspects the scrum model can be
used for this project.
Waterfall Model:
The waterfall type of project management model is one of the most used project
management model as this model easily incorporates with most of the projects. In this type of
model a specific type of sequences is followed in which all the requirements for the project must
be predefined (Alshamrani & Bahattab, 2015). This type of project management model can be
implemented but for that there must be a clear execution plan. Here all the steps of the project
must be cleared as this type of model does not supports any type of back tracking. Important
steps for the waterfall type of project management is described in the following section.

The project need to be designed properly.

Backtracking is the main limitation of this type of project model for which in many cases
this type of project models gets rejected. Thus this aspect of waterfall model needs to be
considered.
Agile Model:
For a software project development process, agile type of model is one of the most
effective method. While this type of method is compared with the waterfall type of model the
main differences that it is totally opposite of the waterfall model. The main reason of considering
this type of project management model is that does not wants any fixed type of requirements,
thus a freedom is gained for experimenting with the requirements (Gray & Rumpe, 2018). Risks
related with the project also decreases while this type agile model is implemented. These are the
main advantages of this model but with that it has some of the major limitations. Here this type
of model does not consists any type of fixed process for the development, thus prediction of any
type of man power and resources is not possible in this context.
Comparing all of the above models for the project selection it has been determined that
agile type of methodology is the most appropriate for this type of project which has been
initiated by the Uber. This method has been chosen here due to the reason that it supports the
process of backtracking. Backtracking is important for this type of project as in many of the
cases modification is required to the software depending on the feedback of the users.

With proper types of project selection methods, appropriate type of project management
tools is also very much important in this context. These tools are important for successfully
completing the projects. In the following section these tools are described briefly.
Scheduling:
These tools is important here as it helps to manage the workflow as the whole progress of
the project can be controlled (Kerzner, 2017).
Network Diagram:
Network diagram is important tool as this helps in the completion of the project by
determination of the critical path for the project (Harrison & Lock, 2017).
Gantt Chart:
Gantt chart is important as this helps in scheduling all of the tasks that are important for
the development of the initiated project (Sharon & Dori, 2017).
Assessment of the Risks:
Risks are quite important for the projects as they need to be managed properly so that the
initiated project can be completed successfully. In the following section proper procedures for
the risk assessment is described.
Each of the aspects of the project must be analyzed properly so that all the risks regarding
the project can be determined (Hopkinson, 2017).
In the following section feedback must be collected properly from the end of the project

procedures for proper type of risk assessment has been discussed in this paper. Thus proper
