Safeguarding refers to the action in which is taken to promote welfare of children and
young people in which there is protection from any harm. This is the one in which there are
different type of protection program are there which can provide the children and young people
to get safe from any type of harm. This is the one which is able to provide the person right to live
in society and get free from abuse or neglect. This is the one which provide them safety and
protection from any type of harm in society. In this report, there is introduction about different
type of abuse along with their sign and symptom which the patient might be experiencing. There
is also discussion about the way of the petitioners and agencies need to be involved in providing
safe guarding. There is also discussion about the legislation, guidelines and policies which are
therefore providing safeguarding. There is some discussion about possibility of reviews which
can be reduced in social care setting.

Different type of abuse faced by patient
As per the case study Andrew who is 22 years old man maybe experiencing some type of
abuse which are like emotional abuse, psychological abuse or institutional abuse. These abuse
are going to be discussed in detail further.
Emotional abuse
This is the one in which Andrew is experiencing difficulty because Andrew is the one
who lives alone and have no any family member and contact to them. Due to this, he may be
experiencing some emotional abuse. Emotional abuse is the one in which Andrew may be
experiencing emotional abuse due to his family and people of society. This can be said that
because Andrew have no any contact with any of his family member and there are very less
person who are like health care professional, like to talk to him and only for a his treatment and
better care. Sign of emotional abuse is that Andrew is getting ignored and not getting care from
his family member. There is also a symptom which can say that he might be experiencing as
emotional abuse which is he don't like to talk and getting social with any person.
Psychological abuse
Andrew might be also experiencing the psychological abuse because in this abuse, their is
getting threatened by other person, other physically or mentally. This is the one which can make
any person depressed and threatened. Andrew maybe experiencing this because in case study, it
is mentioned that in past when he was the victim of stolen of phone and threatened for this. This
may be the sign of psychological abuse which Andrew might be facing. Is also getting apart from
others and no one is like to contact with him in society. This can lead to psychological and
mentally getting frustrate and irritated which can create psychological abuse. Andrew might be
facing psychological abuse on Facebook is mentally threatened effecting a mentally and not
getting out in society or social. This create hard to get better. Here healthcare professional need
to support Andrew mentally and psychologically which can provide better care.
Institutional abuse
This is the type of abuse in which situation is not able to provide better care and
safeguarding to the patient which can lead to institutional abuse. Due to not proper treatment,

this is the one which Andrew might be facing because he is not getting proper care. Andrew is
living and staying alone for a longer period of time without socializing with anyone. This may be
lead to a institutional abuse. Here, healthcare professional need to make some contact and better
relationship with Andrew in relation to provide better care and treatment to him. Institutional
abuse is the one in which Andrew is not getting proper care by Healthcare professionals. In
relation to provide better and healthy treatment and safeguarding which can mentally support
him for getting better with health.
What action to take after confirmation or suspected of different abuse
Emotional abuse is confirmed or suspected then in this case, there is need to take some
serious action. This can provide Andrew some better support and care in relation to better health
and safeguarding. When there is suspect or confirmation about the emotional abuse in this case
there is a need to take action according to provided legislation and policies which can able to
provide Andrew some better care. There is a need to take action by using rules and regulations in
better manner so that other people who are living in society should not isolate Andrew from
society and make contact and connect with better behaviour.
When there is confirmation of suspension about psychological abuse, then in relation to
this safeguarding professional need to take action regarding these and providing better care and
treatment which can help mentally and physically for better health of Andrew. There is need to
take action by using policies and legislation of safeguarding in which no any person get mentally
harass anyone which can lead to threatening or mentally effect.
Using rules and regulation and policies there is need to take action. According to this
case,
chances of getting abuse from any person or society, there is need to take action by using their
laws and regulations against the service provider. In this, there is need to make better rules and
policies why should we strictly implemented and followed by a Healthcare professional to
provide better care and not ignore any patient. In relation to their health there is need to take
action regarding any for health care professional who is not providing better care to patient and
ignoring and physically, harassing him should be punished accordingly.

Roles of practitioners and agencies that are involved in safeguarding
There are different roles of practitioners and different agencies who have the
responsibility to provide better care and safeguarding to Andrew are going to be discussed
further.
