Title- Private Schools Are Better In UK
Independent schools in the UK, which are also recognized as private schools, are the
private schools that charge a fee from the parents of the students. It is being governed by an
elected board of the governors. They are not dependent on the man of the regulations and
conditions in which the schools which are being funded by the state must follow. This essay will
be focusing on the fact that private schools are superior in comparison to the other schools in the
United Kingdom. The essay will be focusing on the advantages and the key features of the
private school or the independent schools.
There are some private schools like The King’s school; Canterbury was very old, which
were being found as a part of the church. Winchester and Oswestry are the principal independent
schools even from the dominion of the church, which was being found in the early 14th to 15h
century (Boliver and Swift 2011). These schools were, however, meant for the male scholars
who belonged to the poor background.
In private schools, the students do not have to trail the national curriculum. Various
expensive and exclusive schools that tend to cater to the students belonging to the 13 to 18 years
in England and Wales are known, and the public schools which are being defined by the
communal schools act in 1868. The word “public” is being taken from the fact they are very
much open to the children without concerning where the children lived or what religion they
belong to. The number of private institutes in the UK is 2600, which tends to educate about
615,000 children, among which 7 percent of the youngsters are British, and 16 percent of the
students belong to the age over the 16. Apart from charging the fees of the tuition, many
students tend to benefit from the gifts, generous legacies, and the status of the charitable.

Private schools, in comparison to the other schools, are commonly marked by enhanced
individual teaching with better ratios of the pupil and that of the teacher at around 9:1. It tends to
have longer hours of teaching which even includes the teaching done in the morning of the
Saturdays. They tend to have adequate time on the academic subjects like that of the maths,
modern language, and even on the broader education, which is being recommended by the
nationwide curriculum to which it is to be noted that the practice of the state school education is
in its limited form. On the other hand, it is to be noted that many independent or the private
school's tens to teach its students their own sets of distinguishing ethos, including the social form
of ambitions, behaviors and enunciations, which are very much connected with the traditions of
one’s own schools.
It is, however, to be noted that the achievement of education in the private schools are
much better in comparison to the education that is being conducted in the other schools. The
students or the pupils in the independent schools are four times more likely to gain an A grade in
the GCSE in comparison to the non-selective state sector counterparts. However, it is to be noted
that some of the private schools even specialize in some strengths, whether it is speculative,
vocational, or artistic. However, it is not as general as it is in the segment of the state.
Apart from this, it is to be noted that private schools have the freedom to set their own
sets of discipline with a higher rate of freedom in order to exclude the children and exercise in
the wider interest of that of the school. In the year 2014, the council of the independent state
appointed a report in order to highpoint the influence that the independent schools tend to have
on the budget of the British. According to the calculation of the report, the independent or the
private school tends to provision an £ 11.7 billion contribution to the gross value in Britain. The

number is being stated by calculating the redeemable to that of the taxpayer by not required to
deliver the school seats to 620,000 students, the importance of the jobs that are being established
by the private schools, the creation of the tax revenue which are being done indirectly or directly
by the private sector and even by the financial contribution that is being done by the alumni
An examination or analysis that is being done on the official information of the
examination that is being conducted by the BBC’s Ratio 4 Today Program in the year 2017 tends
to show that the 20 percent of students belonging to the private schools were provided with
additional time for their preparation for the GCSE and for the A level exams in comparison to
the students to belonged to the schools of the public sector. It is noted that the general amount of
extra or additional time that is being given is that of the 25 %. However, such exam access
arrangements have been given for the students who tend to suffer from some form of disabilities
and special educational needs like that of dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD.
Private schools have the freedom to create their own kind of curriculum. Though it is to
be noted that the ultimate aim of the private school is to teach the students of the same basic
course similar to that of any other school, the private schools also tend to have the opportunity to
incorporate various forms of elements to their programs. The administrators of the private school
often tend to develop programs that give importance to that of the arts. According to (de Waal
2015), private schools tend to give more importance to the arts in comparison to the local public
schools. Private schools tend to incorporate plays and music’s which tend to give the students
the chance to explore their own talents and express themselves vigorously.
Thus, the conclusion that can be derived from this study that though the private schools
are expensive, and there are various criticisms against it, it tends to give the students an advanced
