1ENGLISH ASSIGNMENT
The present generation of teenagers is very different from the ones of the earlier times
and this particular fact can be attributed to the technological growth, the changing social as
well as the political trends of the world and other significant factors (Carroll et al.). However,
it is generally seen that although technological advancements and other factors have greatly
improved the lives of the teenagers but at the same time they have also created new problems
which the teenagers of the present generation need to face (Fry, Igielnik and Patten). Thus, in
a way it can be said that the problems faced by the teenagers of the present times are more
gruesome as well as serious in nature than the problems which were faced by the teenagers of
the earlier generations. Some of the most common problems which the teenagers belonging to
the present generation need to confront which were not faced by the teenagers of the earlier
generation are the various acts of cyber bullying, the ill-effects of online dating, stress,
depression and various others (Greatergood.berkeley.edu).
I belong to the genre of people who generally like to take the help of the various
technological advancements of the present. Thus, I generally feel more comfortable using the
various kinds of electronic media and the social media in particular in the process of my day-
to-day life. I personally believe that technology has greatly simplified the lives of the present
generation and it is a reflection of this particular that the kinds of facilities which are being
enjoyed by the present generation of people were unheard of in the earlier times. However, I
would like to comment at this particular juncture that inspite of the technological
advancements the present generation of teenagers also face the above mentioned problems
which were not faced by the teenagers of the earlier generations.
For the completion of this assignment I took the help of various kinds of sources
which helped me in a significant manner not only complete the assignment but at the same
time provided me with valuable information. However, at the same time I found that some of
the sources supported one particular argument whereas the sources refuted the same

argument. For example, the works of Carroll, Jennie, et al and Sharlene Gale S. and Graeme
Codington propounded the same thought that the people of the present generation are more
dependent on technology than the other generation whereas Greatergood.berkeley.edu.,
propounds that the over dependence on technology ruins the morale of the individuals.
Furthermore, Madhuka states unemployment has increased in the present generation whereas
this particular view is being refuted by Richard, Fry. Ruth, Igielnik and Eileen, Patten with
the view that the people belonging to the present generation are more likely to get better in
comparison to the people of the earlier generations.
I would like to say that the arguments propounded by one scholar greatly modify the
arguments propounded by the other scholars. For example, Madhuka propounds that
unemployment has increased in the present generation whereas Richard, Fry. Ruth, Igielnik
and Eileen, Patten states that the people are more likely to find better jobs. This is one
example where one source used by me greatly modified the arguments propounded by the
other source.
