This report provides an analysis of product design and development, focusing on consumer products across various categories. It examines specific products, including the Samsung Q90 Qled television, LG Refrigerator LTCS24223, Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus smartphone, Huawei MateBook13 laptop, and LG WM3700hva washing machine. Introduction
Products are put in categories according to their functionality and similarity.
Although each product is designed for a specific purpose, the mode of functioning is more
similar to a product in the same category. Each of the product in the electronic category is
scrutinized to check whether it meets the threshold that customers need.
Samsung Q90 Qled Television
This is a premium smart television under the samsung brand. The
television has excellent quality pictures and magnificent colors which are enticing to the
eyes of the user. This television is built with extra hardware and an operating system
connected with a general user interface (Hutchins, 2018). It’s designed with a Samsung
connect box and has no dolby vision.
The screen comes in different sizes and they vary from 65 inches to 75 inches
and 80 inches each with its own price. This television supports Ethernet, wireless network
connection, coaxial cable and has HDMI ports. This product offers the user smart features for
instance a polished smart home dash board which controls all connected devices.
The Samsung Q90 Qled television comes in three sizes hence the user can select
the size he or she wants. The bigger screen is sold at a higher price compared to the smaller one.
The smart television uses wireless keyboard and mouse which makes it convenient for the user to
key in data and navigate easily. The user can also enter data or text by the use of a tablet or cell
phone.

This television is built in a way that it allows faster navigation and connects
easily to wireless input devices.The user can control the television from the comfort of the
couch. This premium television is relatively slim in size .For a user, who likes to keep up with
trends; this is one of the best high quality designs in the market today.
One of the dissatisfiers of this product is that all smart televisions are a threat to
privacy of the user and can hinder personal security. This product can be used by hackers to
access information and expose confidential and private data.Customers would prefer a product
where they are assured of privacy and confidentiality of their data.
The high performance level, smart features and capabilities are designed to
respond to the customer complaints and reviews of the older model in the process of improving
the product. When we compare our contradiction in Trix matrix, which is to improve the voice
assistant without change in sound quality, we got the following principles as suggestion, that is
principle 25, 10, from the two principles we choose principle 25 which is make an object serve
itself by performing auxiliary helpful functions. The new improved product should have a great
quality bixby voice assistant and ensure the use of the dolby vision.
LG Refrigerator LTCS24223
The refrigerator is like the sun in every home and its one of the essential
household items. This refrigerator model is designed with simplicity and its price friendly to the
user. The refrigerator comes with a sliding drawer designed to help the user organize food
storage. The user can store perishable products such as grocery, meat, fresh juice for a long
period while retaining their freshness.

This is one of the highly popular reviewed products in the market and it serves the
user effectively. The style and design is made of stainless steel finishes with premium doors
designed to meet customer satisfaction. The refrigerator comes with an inbuilt ice maker and
electronic temperature control to regulate freshness. It is designed with compartments for
convenience when storing food.
The LG model is designed with LED lights which provide excellent light when the
user opens the refrigerator door. Most refrigerators are made of stainless steel designed to
specific colors (Sergio, 2015).Refrigerators can be used anywhere so long as power supply is
constant and reliable. It’s developed with digital sensors which monitor and regulate items in
refrigerator to keep them cool and fresh.
The storage capacity is 24 cubic feet giving the user enough space for storage
and well designed door handles. The customer may be dissatisfied since it’s bulky and occupies a
large space; in addition to that the cooling effect performance is not sharp compared to other
refrigerator models. Customer will be attracted to this product because it has a large storage
capacity designed to meet the user needs and the stainless font and silver sides are also attractive
to the eyes.
When we compare our contradiction in Trix matrix, which is to improve the
cooling effect without change in performance , we got the following principles as suggestion,
that is principle 35,21,28,10 from the four principles we choose principle 35 which requires to
change the objects physical state. The new improved refrigerator should have a sharp cooling
system same as notably Kenmore 79432.

The stainless steel surface is not magnet friendly hence the need to design a model
where the user can stick decorations. The new product should be improved on efficiency and
well designed freezer section.
Samsung galaxy S20 plus smart phone
This is the best premium smart phone under the brand of Samsung with the best features.
The user of this product is basically the literate in the society (Chen, 2017).Generally; customers
derive satisfaction from phones when they are able to communicate with other people through a
call. The users of smart phones can do video calls at their own comfort.
The storage capacity for this smart phone is 128GB with expandable capacity of 512GB
which makes it convenient for storage of information by the user. The user can enjoy a 5G
internet connectivity which is fast and reliable. This smart phone has a long battery life which
can last for 10 hours and 31 minutes.
This product has a high quality camera which produces excellent, bright and colorful
pictures. The phone camera has replaced the old ones, since most people leave their old cameras
at home and use the phone camera when they want to take pictures. This phone has a large
screen and it’s designed with a long lifespan. The disatifier for this smart phone is the use of
custom android skin which makes it hard to upgrade to future versions of android. This product
is one of the best top end android smart phones in the market, making it attractive to the user.
The improved camera and its good size are some of the features that customers will
find attractive to purchase. When we compare our contradiction in Trix matrix, which is to
improve the custom android skin without change in shape, we got the following principles as

requires changing from uniform to composite (multiple) materials.
The new improved smart phone should be easy to upgrade to future versions
of android and also the weight of the phone. It should be light in weight and very portable.

While laptops have evolved overtime, the design has remained almost the same over the
years. One of the best satisfactions that come with owning a laptop is that they are built to last
for a long period of time. They can survive drops and spills due to the thick pads and a protective
outer surface. They come with fixed displays hence the user cannot upgrade from one display to
another.
The Huawei laptop is designed for great performance with nvidia graphics.it has user
friendly keyboard and it’s very portable, this laptop comes with a carrier bag which is well
designed to absorb friction and protect against harsh environment (Salat, 2014).This laptop offers
excellent value to the consumer with only 8GB Ram. The best thing about this laptop is that its
durable and flexible hence the user can own it over a long period of time.
The prices are pocket friendly, not too expensive compared with the price of the
competitors. Its light weight design makes it convenient for the user to move around with it. The
laptop has a 13 inch screen which is desirable with a high speed operating system. The disatifier
is that this product does not have a thunderbolt and it has a short battery life.
The price of this laptop makes it attractive to the customer since it’s not expensive. When
we compare our contradiction in Trix matrix, which is to improve the battery life of the laptop

without change in speed, we got the following principles as suggestion, that is principle 15, 35 ,
2 from the three principles we choose principle 2 which requires to separate the interfering part
or property from an object or single out the only necessary part or property of an object.
Improvements can be made on the charging system as well as the lifespan of the
battery.The manufacturers should ensure quality and protect the market from counterfeit laptops
and laptop parts (Salat, 2014).The new product should also come with reliable licensed software
since the only software huawei installs is the download application that runs the system
applications.
LG WM3700hva Washing machine
This is a home appliance used to clean laundry. A washing machine is economical to the
user and makes cleaning of laundry easier and faster, this gadget saves time and it comes with a
compatible dryer and stacking kit. The machine is user friendly as well. This machine saves the
user the hustle and bustle of doing laundry (Metian2015). Laundry is done in a cycle which
makes sure they are thoroughly clean.
The best part is that the machine has a large capacity and can handle more laundry compared to
other models. The machine fits well in tight laundry rooms or closet hence it occupies less space.
Given that this machine uses power to do laundry, it ends up consuming a lot of power, thus,
increasing the power bill of the user, it’s expensive to maintain and run. The cost of repair of the
machine is also high; many users opt to acquire a new machine than taking the old one for repair.
it is not easy to read the display pad under low light conditions.

Customers complain of high energy consumption basically from use of the washing
machine, laundry done with a washing machine over a long period will be prone to wear and tear
compared to the ones cleaned by use of bare hands. The company products are designed
following experiences and technology(Kozar,2017).
When we compare our contradiction in Trix matrix, which is to improve on the light at
the display pad without change in speed , we got the following principles as suggestion, that is
principle 1,13,2,4 from the four principles we choose principle 4 which requires to invert the
action used to solve the problem.
The new improved product should be have light at the display pad and it should be
energy saving to protect the environment by consuming less power.The company should be the
one handling repair for the users of the machine at a low cost meaning repairs should be done at
a cost that is much less compared to the cost of purchasing a new washing machine (Metian
2015).
It’s very important to take into consideration the consumer requirements which may
cause dissatisfaction when present and also those cause satisfactions when they are not
considered. In developing the new product, the manufacturer should have a main category where
the customer requirements fall into and give priority to the design and implementation stages of
the new machine basically what to include and where to invest finances to improve the product.
